Together Again
1920-2023
Melvin Paul Taucher of Columbiana, Ohio, formerly of Hopewell Township, Beaver County, Pa., passed away Sept. 9, 2023, at the age of 103.
He was born May 28, 1920 in Burgettstown, Pa., to the late John (Dena) and Blanche (Pease) Taucher.

Soon after he was discharged, he married and moved to Aliquippa. He became a member of the Methodist Church in Aliquippa, where he served for many years as the superintendent of the Sunday School. He also became a member of Woodlawn Masonic Lodge# 123.
After 32 years of employment with Duquesne Slag in Monaca, Pa., Mel retired. He then fulfilled his lifelong dream of learning to fly. And for many years he was the oldest adult in Beaver County to receive his pilot’s license.
He is survived by his three daughters, Karen (Joe) Stepo, Laurel Levanduski and Sherry Kuebel; two granddaughters, Maurriah and Vanessa Kuebel; a granddaughter-in-law, Karen Stepo; three great-grandchildren, Alysia (Stevie) Cappitte, Nick Stepo and Maggie (Stepo) Sullivan; and three great-great-grandchildren, Adrianna, Cameron and Skylar Cappitte. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 76 years, Jeanie Taucher; two brothers, Arthur and Donald; three sisters, Betty Tidball, Elsie Smith and Roberta (Sis) Slopek; and his beloved grandson, Joseph (JJ) James Stepo III.
Per his request, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. A private service will be held for family members at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Beaver County Humane Society, 3394 Brodhead Road, Aliquippa, PA 15001.
Our family would like to extend our deepest appreciation to all of the kind and compassionate staff of Whispering Pines Village and ProMedica Hospice, for the wonderful care given to both Mel and Jeanie Taucher.
