Justin Michael Smith (Schmit)

1973-2023

Justin Michael Smith (Schmit), 50, of Bedford Heights, formerly of Salem, died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2023, at his home.

He was born April 23, 1973, in Salem, son of Glenna (Bell) Smith Cain and the late Gary Del Smith.

Justin was a 1991 graduate of Salem Senior High School and was currently a tool and die maker at Swagelok in Solon. He received his early training while still in high school, and later went on to be a journeyman in the Iron Workers Local # 207.

In his youth, he played on the Salem Stars Football team, and developed an interest in video games that never went away. He was a member of the “Salem Dukes,” where he made many lifelong friends. Justin enjoyed his music, attending concerts, and being with his family and friends.

He is survived by his children, Dru Ann Smith and Justin Michael Smith Jr. of Canton, Ohio, as well as his mother, Glenna Cain of Salem.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Hellen Crowl.

A time of visitation will be held Saturday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, 1617 E. State St., Salem.
