Margaret Ruth (Bennett) Berg

Margaret Ruth (Bennett) Berg, of Columbia, South Carolina, gained her angel wings Wednesday, Aug. 23, 1923 just weeks shy of her 100th birthday.

Margaret was born at home Sept. 14, 1923, the daughter of James and Anna (Hack) Bennett in Kent, Ohio.

Margaret married her one and only love, Robert W. Berg, Feb. 15, 1946 after he returned from World War II. She was a homemaker while raising five children in Salem, Ohio.

Surviving are her sons Richard A. Berg of Salem, Ohio, and James Robert (Diane) Berg of The Villages, Fla.; her daughters Cathy B. (Michael) Cochcroft and Cheri B. (Bill) Williams of South Carolina; along with six grandsons and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and five siblings, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, her daughter Carole Lamphere, her daughter-in-law Peggy Berg and two grandsons.

Services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services in Salem. Pastor Cyndi Midlick will be officiating. A time of visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Hope Cemetery.
