Peter V. Neiheisel

1954-2023

LEETONIA -- Peter V. Neiheisel of Leetonia passed away on May 2, 2023 at the Cleveland Clinic. He was born in Salem, Ohio on May 23, 1954 and attended Crestview Schools. After serving in the U.S. Army, he married Jane Clark. He worked for Columbiana County for 33 years, starting as a Deputy Sheriff and retiring as a Corrections Lieutenant in 2011.

Peter embraced retirement and spent much of the time in his garage or outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, mowing, and riding motorcycles. He will be missed by those who often dropped by for a conversation and a beer.

The beginning of his retirement coincided with becoming a grandpa, and he enjoyed being "Papa Pete" to his four grandchildren. He was forever teasing them, and as they got older, they enjoyed teasing him back. They will greatly miss going on Gator rides, watching Gunsmoke, and talking about who had "stinky feet". He frequently told them that "life isn't fair", and that rings true as he was taken too soon.

Peter is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jane; his children, Jill (Matt) Griffith and Kade Neiheisel; his grandchildren, Tori, Kaia, Titus, and Hadley. He is also survived by his mother, Sally, and his siblings, Eddie, Cheri, Steve, Pam, Connie, and Toby. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas; his sister, Peggy; and his uncle Charles.

Per Peter's wishes, there will be no formal services. Family and friends will honor his memory privately.
