Kathie S. Skinner
1952-2023
EAST PALESTINE — Kathie S. Skinner, 71, passed away May 14, 2023, at the Salem Regional Medical Center.
Kathie was born March 19, 1952, in Kittanning, Pa., daughter of the late James S. and E. Ruth Wolfe Skinner.
She was a 1970 graduate of East Palestine High School, and the Choffin School of Practical Nursing. Kathie worked as an LPN for 20 years at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown. She also worked at Sunrise Homes in Lisbon prior to her retirement. She was an active member of the Chippewa United Methodist Church.
Kathie was always very independent, she enjoyed taking long drives in her Buick Lacrosse and having coffee in the mornings with her friends at McDonalds. She also still kept in touch with her nursing friends at St. Elizabeth’s and gathered with them for lunches often. She loved trying out new restaurants and going shopping. She was a very generous and thoughtful person who loved spending time with her family. Although she never had children of her own, she loved all her cousins, their children and grandchildren. She even was giving after death, wishing to be an organ donor, and donating her corneas through the lifebanc program. She loved buying and wrapping gifts for people. Kathie carried on her mom’s tradition of baking Christmas cookies, boxing them and giving them out to many families and friends. She was a cancer survivor and was a driver for the American Cancer Societies “Road to recovery” program.
Kathie was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her brother, Ronald J. Skinner.
She is survived by a sister-in-law, Mary Skinner; aunt, Janet Wolfe; sister-in-law, Mary Skinner; niece, Cathy Jo (Jay) Robertson; great-nephew, Caden Robertson; great-niece, Kella Robertson as well as several cousins, their children and grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank the loving staff at Christian House for the care they showed to Kathie.
Memorial contributions can be made in lieu of flowers to the charity of one’s choice.
A private burial will be held at Glenview Cemetery in East Palestine.
Linsley-Royal Funeral Home in East Palestine is in charge of arrangements.
