William Alvin ‘Bill’ Mays, Jr.

COLUMBIANA — William Alvin “Bill” Mays, Jr. of Columbiana, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, April 1, 2023. Bill was born in Steubenville, Ohio on April 24, 1977, the son of William A. Mays, Sr. and the late Linda M. Bradley.

Bill was a graduate of East Liverpool High School with the Class of 1995. After graduation he continued his education at Youngstown State University where he earned his degree in Criminal Justice.

Bill was a sergeant with the Youngstown State University Police Department where he was employed for the past 20 years.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are: his father and step-mother, William Sr. and Roberta Mays, of East Liverpool; step-father, Alton Bradley, of East Liverpool; three brothers: Ryan Gaus, of East Liverpool, Wesley (Cassandra) Mays, of Lisbon, and Jason Mays, of Canfield. Bill also leaves behind four nieces and seven nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2023 from 12-2 p.m. at Care Funeral & Cremation Specialists- Martin Chapel in Calcutta. The funeral will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Mark Blakeley from The First Christian Church of Wellsville officiating.
