1927-2023
Phyllis A. McKarns, 96, of Minerva and formerly Salineville, died Saturday, March 4, 2023 in McCrae Manor in Alliance. She was born Jan. 26, 1927 in East Rochester to Carl and Lydia (Buckey) Ruff. She graduated from Minerva High School in 1944 where she was inducted into the National Honor Society. She has been a member of the New Alexander Christian Church since birth.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Clifford McKarns who died in 2013; two sisters, Barbara Ince and Doris Kirkpatrick; and brother, Lester Ruff. She is survived by two daughters, Noreen (Gary) Peterson of Beloit, Tracey (Denny) Pierson of Minerva; two sons, Thomas (Lorraine) Norris of Hanoverton, Jerry (Deb) Norris of Minerva; 12 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, and she also enjoyed a large stepfamily.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Pastor Ed. Blackburn officiating. Burial will be in Moultrie Chapel Cemetery.
