Mark Allen Grate

Mark A. Grate, age 50, of Hanoverton passed away on Monday March 13, 2023. He was born on February 15, 1973 in Salem to Cheryl and Lloyd Grate.

Mark graduated from United Local in 1991. He achieved his police officer certificate and was a deputy for both Carroll and Columbiana Counties. Mark also worked as an officer for several area police departments. He also worked at the Hanoverton Auto detailing cars. He was an avid Steelers and Seinfeld fan. Mark loved to sing and enjoyed music. He could be found dancing and bowling. His passion was spending time with his kids and with God.

He is survived by his children Shane (Krista) Grate of Canton, Mariah Grate of Alliance, Lloyd Grate of East Rochester. His granddaughter Chloe Grate. His ex-wife Marianne (Michael) Bentfeld. Two sisters Melissa Sturgeon of Lisbon and Emily Grate of Florida. He is also survived by his mother Cheryl (David) Switzer of Hanoverton and his father Lloyd (Charlotte) Grate of Lordstown.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Hanoverton Presbyterian Church on Thursday, March 23, 2023 from 5 to 7 p.m. Flowers may be sent to the church the day of the service.
