Donald Houpt

Donald Houpt passed away March 3, 2023. He was born August 26, 1960 in Youngstown, Ohio to James Houpt and Rebecca Houpt.

He attended Western Reserve local schools, graduated from the Mahoning County JVS with a welding certificate in 1978. He later received his CDL training certificate from TDDS in 1986. Long time truck driver retired in fall 2022 of teamster local 377.

A life long passion for motor sports and outdoors, Don enjoyed Mopar/Dodge, Harley Davidson motorcycles, and spending many hours fishing with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by father James Houpt, mother Rebecca Houpt, step-dad Joe Phillips and brother James Houpt.

He was a loving husband. Married Kathy (Steves) Houpt April 16, 1983 living their full and happy life in Salem, Ohio. Survivors include four sons: Treg Steves and wife Abby Steves and granddaughter, Claire Steves of Salem, Ohio. Son, Tristan Houpt and Erin Nelson of Ellsworth, Ohio. Garrett Houpt of Damascus, Ohio. Kalvin Houpt and Jade Green of Niles, Ohio.

A celebration of life will be held at Salem Perry Lodge 185 located 788 East State St. Saturday March 18, 11-2. Lunch will be served after brief service.
