Jerome ‘Jerry’ Bailey

EAST PALESTINE — Jerome “Jerry” Bailey, 82, a lifelong resident of East Palestine, passed away unexpectedly January 29, 2023 at his residence.

Jerry was born February 25, 1940 in Midland, Pa., son of the late Joseph and Joanna (Marciniak) Bailey.

He was a veteran of the US Navy, a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and was very active with Social Concerns of East Palestine. He worked for GM as a tow motor operator from 1966 until his retirement in 1993. Jerry was a 1958 graduate of East Palestine High School, a member of the East Palestine VFW Post 4579 and a 50-year member of the East Palestine Moose Lodge. He enjoyed bowling and playing golf and was a devoted and loving father and grandfather.

Jerry is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Evelyn Landsberger Bailey; son, Joseph W. Bailey of East Palestine; daughter, Jeri Lynn (James) Colucy of Bolingbrook, Ill.; sister-in-law, Susan Bailey; granddaughter, Nicola (Dr. Tyler) Reynolds; great-grandson, Ruskin Reynolds and two nephews and their families, David and Jeff Bailey.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Timothy and Thomas Bailey and a sister, Patty Bailey.

A memorial Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, in celebration of his birthday on February 25, 2023 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in East Palestine. A private burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
