Shirley J. Whitacre

She was born June 15, 1934, in East Palestine, daughter of the late Paul and Lula Bell Henry.

Shirley was a lifelong resident of East Palestine and was a graduate of East Palestine High School. She also worked at Guys Bakery for over 20 years prior to her retirement and was a longtime member of Centenary United Methodist Church.

Shirley is survived by two sons, Richard (Tracy) Whitacre Jr. and Dean (Lorri) Whitacre, both of Columbiana; a daughter, Debra (Daryl) Caldwell of Rogers; brother, Tom Henry of East Palestine; three sisters, Linda Couve of Illinois; Sandy Conners and Andrea “Sis” Kissinger, both of East Palestine; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Linsley-Royal Funeral Home in East Palestine with a private burial to follow at Glenview Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank the entire Covington staff for the loving care they showed to “Gram” as she was affectionately known by all who knew her there.
