Jennifer Jill Hood

COLUMBIANA — Jennifer Jill Hood, 69, passed away peacefully Dec. 3, 2022. Jennifer fought a health battle with tremendous courage, strength and ruthless determination. She was born Aug. 14, 1953 in Richmond, Ind., daughter of John William and Jane Ellen (Gardner) Dye.

Jennifer was known for her magical smile, her fierce passion for education and for her glowing love for her family. She is survived by her daughter, Christina (Michael) Douglas as well as her “best boy” and grandson, Jaxson Douglas, and her “best girl” and granddaughter, Brooklynn Douglas. She is also survived by her brother, John (Diane) Dye, whom she adored and looked forward to spending time with.

Jennifer retired from the field of school-based Speech Language Pathology in recent years. Nonetheless, following her retirement, one could still find her researching new topics and discussing the “ins and outs” of the field on any given day. Jennifer’s love and true dedication to the field and toward helping children with special needs goes unmatched. She was known for introducing new methods and ideas to her professional peers and for following through for each and every student that she worked with. Her work was sincerely a labor of love.

Jennifer enjoyed traveling, crafting, decorating, reading, shopping, cooking and cuddling with her beloved dog, Oliver. More than anything else, Jennifer treasured spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She made each visit, each sleepover, each birthday and each holiday special for them by providing their favorite movies, treats, blankets, toys and other surprises–but what they loved most was watching Golden Girls together.

While Jennifer’s family shares extreme sadness in losing their “Mom,” “Mima” and “Sissy,” the family is comforted in knowing that Jennifer will be reunited with her husband and love of her life, Paul. Jennifer and Paul were married in 1978 and are surely enjoying their eternity together once again. May their endless traveling, relaxation, and laughter commence.

Special appreciation is extended to the Cleveland Clinic Taussig Cancer Center for their patience and care as well as Community Hospice for their prompt and nurturing care during Jennifer’s final days.

Per Jennifer’s wishes, a private burial will take place at Hope Cemetery and a celebration of life will take place at a later date.

Arrangements are being handled by Stark Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
