David W. ‘Dave’ Bickerton
FORT PIERCE, Florida – David W. “Dave” Bickerton, 68, of Lisbon passed away on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2022 at HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce, Florida. Dave was born in East Liverpool, Ohio on March 11, 1954 a son of the late Charles W. and Alice Jean (Barnes) Bickerton. Raised in East Liverpool, Ohio, he was a 1972 graduate of East Liverpool High School. He retired from First Energy where he worked his entire career as an advanced maintenance planner and made lifelong friendships with many colleagues.
Dave was an avid train collector. He loved showing off his train collections and displays that he built, playing with his grandchildren like a big kid. Dave enjoyed traveling to train shows far and wide to add to his ever-growing collection. Dave was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Cavaliers.
He loved traveling to the Florida sunshine in the winter with his wife June. Dave was a loving father to his children. Dave was a self-professed “gearhead.” He loved classic cars, building and racing cars, traveling in his RV with his wife, riding motorcycles and anything with wheels.
Dave was involved in coaching youth soccer for many years, first in the Kiwanis Youth Soccer League in East End and later in the East Liverpool Youth Soccer League where he was instrumental in its expansion to new fields on McCoy Avenue.
In recent years, Dave’s hobby was spoiling his grandchildren with trains, cars, scooters and “anything with wheels.”
Preceding Dave in death were his daughter Emily Bickerton and brother John Charles Bickerton.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 17 years, whom he married Nov. 10, 2005, June A. (Noble) Bickerton; children Dave R. Bickerton and his wife Megan of East Liverpool, Kevin Bickerton of East Liverpool, and Joseph Bickerton of East Liverpool, Ronnie Pillar and his wife Deliah of New Waterford, Ohio and Joelle (Pillar) Ring and her husband Aaron of Columbus, Ohio; two grandchildren, who lovingly knew him as “Pap Pap,” Wesley Forsythe Bickerton and Jack Warren Bickerton; and sister Debra J. Verzella of East Liverpool.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in memory of Dave to the Emily M. Bickerton Memorial Scholarship, PO Box 2646, East Liverpool, OH 43920.
