Darl Louis Ferguson
Darl Louis Ferguson, 89, of Salineville, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by his daughters Dec. 24, 2022.
Darl was born in Salineville, Ohio, April 26, 1933, a son of the late Clyde and Grace (Guess) Ferguson. Darl graduated from Southern Local High School with the Class of 1951. Darl served in the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Fort Knox, Kentucky, as a Paratrooper. After serving, Darl and Edna moved back to Salineville, Ohio and started to build their first home where they raised their five children.
Darl worked at Guess Lumber Co and retired from TRW in Minerva, Ohio. Darl then began to build his “retirement” home for him and Edna outside of Salineville. Darl had a love for building. He built his homes, along with his son’s home, a covered bridge for each daughter and two more covered bridges. Darl was also an avid horseman with Standardbred and Thoroughbred his entire life. Darl and Edna enjoyed ballroom dancing for over 50 years together. Darl enjoyed his golf cart and tractor, which he could always be found on. Darl was a member of the American Legion Post 442 of Salineville and Salineville Masonic Lodge 348.
Darl is survived by his wife Edna Mae (Bettis) Ferguson, of Salineville; sons, Wayne (Jennifer) Ferguson of Carrollton, Kevin (Lisa) Ferguson of Wellsville and Shawn Ferguson of Salineville; daughters, Rochelle (Mike) Jenkins of Sherrodsville and Korena Ferguson of Carrollton; one sister, Faye (Walter) Boyde of HIghlandtown; grandchildren Candace (Aaron) McCarty of Cleveland, Evan Ferguson of Carrollton, Emily (Shawn) Donnalley of Sherrodsville and Lyden Ferguson of Salineville; and great-grandchildren Mary McCarty, Remi Donnalley and Colson Donnalley.
In addition to his parents, Darl was preceded in death by Gene (Fanny) Ferguson of Florida, Kenneth (Carol) Ferguson of Cleveland, Femley (Nellie) Ferguson of West Point, Wilda (Donnie) Smith of Willoughby, Ohio, Warren (Fredia) Ferguson of Cleveland and Dolly (Lester) Williamson of Florida.
In keeping with Darl’s wishes, no services will be observed. Care Funeral & Cremation Specialists-MacLean Chapel have been entrusted with arrangements.
