Mildred I. Minnich

NEW WATERFORD — Mildred I. Minnich, 95, passed away October 23, 2022, at the Caprice Health Center in North Lima.

Mildred was born January 1, 1927, in Monaca, Pa., daughter of the late Sherman and Mary Elizabeth Rambo Grifford.

She was a graduate of Darlington High School. Mildred worked as a waitress at Neils Restaurant and after her retirement she worked as a store clerk. Mildred was a member of the Negley and New Waterford Methodist Church. As an accomplished seamstress, quilter and crocheter, she created many gifts for family and friends. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought into her life after the marriage to Allen.

Mildred is survived by a son, Carl Buhn, Jr. of New Waterford; two daughters, Sandra (John) Cannell of New Waterford and Judith I. (Charles Biegenwald III) Sandstrom of East Palestine; sister, Janet Schied of Negley; step children, Tom (Cynthia) Dorrington of Cincinnati, Ohio, Lynn Cain of New Springfield, Ohio, Nancy Hostetler of Lost Creek, Ky. and Carol Massey of Enon Valley, Pa., Ray (Denise) Minnich of Akron, Ohio, Cliff Minnich of Boise, Idaho and Barbara (Sarge) Weaver of Chambersburg, Pa.; 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, 17 step grandchildren, 29 step great-grandchildren and 20 step great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 11 years, Allen Minnich in 2009; 10 brothers and sisters; one great-granddaughter, Isabella and four step-sons-in-law, Doran Hosteter, Dennis Massey, Bill Cain and Terry Dorrington and a step-daughter-in-law, Karen Lunde.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. on November 19, 2022, at the New Waterford United Methodist Church with Pastor Cindy Figley officiating.

The family wishes to thank the Christian House for 41/2 years and Caprice Health Center the past year and Sanctuary Hospice and the doctors, nurses and all the staff for the compassionate care they showed to Mildred.

Memorial contributions can be made in Mildred’s name to the Alzheimer’s Assoc. or the charity of one’s choice.
