Judy Lynn Fickel Norris

CANFIELD — Judy Lynn Fickel Norris, of Canfield, formerly of Calcutta, passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at the Windsor House following a lengthy illness. She was 78.

Born in East Liverpool, May 30, 1944, she was a daughter of the late Wilbur Edwin and Pearl Ida Brown Fickel. She was a member of the East Liverpool High School Class of 1962 and earned her degree as a Registered Nurse from West Penn Hospital in 1965. She worked as a visiting nurse and then became the director of the Community Action Agency and Head Start. For many years, she was a member of the First Church of Christ (Disciples) and most recently a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Canfield where she was a member of the choir. She enjoyed her hobbies, and shopping for clothes, as well as traveling, especially the extended trips to Europe she took with her husband. She loved her beagle and working in the lawn and garden. Above all things in life, she loved her family and never missed a chance to babysit her grandchildren.

Her husband, John W. Norris, survives at home. The couple married April 23, 1965. Two sons survive, David Norris and his wife, Annette, of Lisbon, and Craig Norris and his wife, Cara Lynn, of Calcutta, along with four grandchildren: Christopher Ryan Norris and his wife, Sara, Zhanna Elizabeth Norris Hoeffler and her husband, Alex, Kaylee Norris, and Alexia Clair Norris, and two great-grandchildren: Hannah and Emma Norris.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Dorothy Garner, Betty Jane Vincent, and Evelyn Talbott, and a brother, Robert Fickel.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Dawson Funeral Home. Friends may visit prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.

Following the service, family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship. Burial will be at Columbiana County Memorial Park.

The family would like to acknowledge the loving care provided by Terry Lones, Nancy Betteridge and Christy Talbott and the staff of the Windsor House.
