James S. Simon
EAST PALESTINE — James S. Simon, 87, a lifelong resident of East Palestine, passed away at his home Nov. 17, 2022, with family by his side.
James was born Sept. 24, 1935, in Unity, Ohio, son of the late Samuel and Clara Landsberger Simon.
He was a graduate of East Palestine High School and a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, rising to the rank of sergeant. James worked as a machinist for L.W. Nash in East Palestine and later Rex Fabricating in New Castle for a number of years prior to his retirement. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
James is survived by two children, Jim (Tina) Simon of Hudson, Mich., and Kay (Bruce) Riehl of Leetonia; brother, Elmer Simon of Unity; sister, Joann Sanor of Salem; and four grandchildren, Bryan, Blake, Ali and Derek.
He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Noel Simon in 2008 as well as a son, Tim Simon, and a daughter, Kim Simon.
Following James’ wishes, no services will be observed.
