John Calvin Dunlap
John Calvin Dunlap, 83, of Fort Wayne, Ind., and previously of Columbiana, Ohio, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sept. 14, 2022. His death was due to Covid complications. He was born on Oct. 12, 1938, in East Palestine, Ohio, to the late Calvin and Dorothy Dunlap. He is survived by his wife, Kay (Gibson) Dunlap, whom he married on June 13, 1964. They enjoyed 58 years together.
John was an educator for 30 years in the Crestview school system. His next career was a U.S. Postal carrier in his hometown of East Palestine. He had a great sense of humor and a variety of interests. He loved to sing and was a member of a barbershop chorus and quartet. He frequented flea markets looking to add to his collections of tokens, pocket watches, and watch fobs. He had a passion for acting and had many significant roles in the Salem Community Theatre. An avid student of the Bible, John was a beloved Sunday School teacher for many years.
He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Leah (Wayne) Kimbrell of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Jennifer (John) Owen of Midlothian, Va. He was Grampy to three grandchildren, Abbey (Aaron) Ceckowski, Ross (Sydney) Kimbrell and Nick Owen. In addition he leaves three precious great-grandchildren, Ilyana, Easton and Emberlynn Ceckowski. He is survived by a brother, David Dunlap, of East Palestine. He was preceded in death by a brother, William Dunlap. A celebration of life will be held on Nov. 17.
