G. Thomas Babb

EAST LIVERPOOL — G. Thomas Babb, 86, of St. Clair Avenue passed away Sunday, October 9, 2022 at 1:47 p.m. at the Orchards of East Liverpool following a lengthy illness.

Born October 5, 1936 in East Liverpool, Ohio he was a son of the late Alvin T. and Hazel V. Gibbs Babb. A lifelong area resident, Tom was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving his country from 1954 to 1958. He started work in 1958 as a business manager for the YELP Service Trucking Company on River Avenue, continuing until the terminal closed in 1983. He then worked for the Bayley Envelope Company until the early 2000’s.

A member of the East Liverpool High School Class of 1954, Tom went on to receive an associate degree from Youngstown State University.

He enjoyed playing golf and tennis at the East Liverpool Country Club, and also belonged to the East Liverpool Elks Lodge #258 and the East Liverpool Rotary Club. Throughout his life, Tom derived immense pleasure from watching the Steelers win Super Bowls and the Penguins win Stanley Cups.

Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Yarr Babb, whom he married March 3, 1967, on November 22, 1992. He leaves behind two sons, Thomas Y. Babb and his wife, Marie of Germantown, Maryland, and Michael Y. Babb of Lisbon, Ohio.

In addition, he leaves behind two grandchildren, Brett Babb and Sydney Babb; and two brothers, Roger Babb and his wife, Florence of Salem, Ohio and Jack Babb and his wife, Sandy of Lakeland, Florida.

Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
