Sara Louise (Stump) Kearsley

On September 14, 2022, in Farmington Hills, Mich., Sara Louise (Stump) Kearsley (“Sally”) began her new adventure.

Sally was born in Salem, Ohio, on August 10, 1938, the second of seven children born to her parents, Kenneth J. and Mildred J. (McMinn) Stump. Sally grew up in Unity, Ohio, and graduated from East Palestine High School in 1956. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Oberlin College and a Master of Science degree from Indiana University in Bloomington. Sally’s professional life centered on career planning and placement at several colleges and universities. The State of Washington recognized Sally for her volunteerism.

On November 26, 1970, Sally married Frederick E. Kearsley (“Fred”) who survives, along with two of his four sons: Douglas, Spokane, Wash. (Patty), and Gregory, Kennewick, Wash. (Betty Jo). The families of Fred’s sons survive Sally, in addition to five of her siblings: Patricia A. Walsh (George, deceased), Okemos, Mich.; Kenneth R. Stump (Lucille), Aurora, Colo.; Marjorie J. Mitchell (James), Farmington, Mich.; Carolyn J. Savage (David), Columbus, Ohio; and Richard R. Stump (Lee), Reno, Nev. Sally’s nieces and nephews and their families also survive her. Sally and Fred’s family and friends knew them as world travelers. During their life together, they enjoyed many adventures, both at home and abroad. Sally was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Robert K. Stump; and two of Fred’s sons: Bradford and Wesley.

Sally’s family is planning a private memorial service for her.
