James Lee Murphy
James Lee Murphy (Jim aka “Murph”) passed away at the age of 73 in San Clemente, California, on July 3, 2022 from a terminal illness. He was born Aug. 29, 1948 to the late Dr. Kenneth and Dorothy Murphy and raised in Columbiana, Ohio.
He competitively excelled in sports and remained in contact with his teammates and coach throughout his life. However, life, according to Murph, did not truly begin until his senior year at Bowling Green when he met his soulmate, Kay. After earning a degree in business administration, Jim successfully served many companies in multiple locations throughout his career. Jim was a devoted husband for more than 50 years, loving father, loyal brother, brilliant mentor, and the best friend one could ever wish for. He was full of love, laughter, and lived life to the fullest.
He is survived by his daughter, Kristin, who pictures him up on a golf course, Tito’s in hand, and his bride on his arm. He is also survived by his brothers Dale (Cindy) Murphy of Richfield, Ohio, John (Shawn) Murphy of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan and Paul (Shirley) Murphy of Southport, North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
A casual gathering of friends will take place, in Jim’s honor, on September 10, 2022 at the Belding household (410 Firestone Ave., Columbiana) from 10 a.m to Noon.
