James Arnold Wicker Sr.
On Thursday, Aug. 25, 2022, James Arnold Wicker Sr., loving husband and father of two children, passed away at the age of 85 at the Auburn Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Salem, Ohio. He was born on Nov. 28, 1936 in Knott County, Ky. to the late Linville and Liza Wicker. James retired as a truck driver. On Oct. 13, 1962 he married Sandra Lee Strater. They raised two sons, James Arnold Wicker Jr. (Wellsville, Ohio) and Joseph Allen Wicker (East Liverpool, Ohio).
James had a passion for family gatherings, hunting and especially fishing. Throughout the summers of his retirement, you could find him at Camp Mecca in Courtland, Ohio on Mosquito Lake fishing with John Minor.
James is survived by his wife Sandra; his two sons, James and Joseph; three granddaughters, Shannon R. (Tom) Killion, Jessica L. Wicker and Cassandra L. Wicker; three great-grandchildren, Ryder and Annastasia Killion and Raingh Gardner. He is survived by two brothers, Ray Wicker (Radcliff, Ky.) and Freddie (Faye) Wicker (Pikeville, Ky.). There are many sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews that James held close to this heart.
At James’ request there will be no services. Instead, at the next family gathering, break out a Rook Deck and share your fond memories of him while everyone plays.
