Edward A. Torrence

EAST PALESTINE — Edward A. Torrence, 88, a lifelong resident of East Palestine, passed away August 23, 2022, at Salem Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness.

Edward was born November 2, 1933, in East Palestine, son of the late David and Rosina Olivetti Torrence.

He was a graduate of East Palestine High School and a veteran of the US Army.

Edward was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Columbiana. He worked as a crane operator for Babcock & Wilcox for 28 years, then went on to work for Community Action Agency in Lisbon as a CARTS Driver and a Head Start bus driver for 17 years prior to retirement in 2005. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Edward is survived by his wife of 44 years, Carmella Marzano Torrence; a brother, David (Pearl) Torrence of East Palestine and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters, Albert, Henry and Richard Torrence, Edith Bartholow, Betty Hull, Jim, Emory, Dennis, August and Alfred Torrence as well as a sister Rose.

The family will receive friends Friday from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the Linsley-Royal Funeral Home in East Palestine. A funeral mass will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday at St. Jude Catholic Church in Columbiana with Father Christopher Cicero serving as celebrant. A private family burial will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in East Palestine.

Memorial contributions can be made in lieu of flowers to St. Jude Catholic Church 180 Seventh St. Columbiana, OH 44408 for masses to be said in Edwards name.
