Joan M. Needs

EAST PALESTINE — Joan M. Needs, 75, a lifelong resident of East Palestine, passed away July 5, 2022 at her home with family by her side.

She was born March 5, 1947, daughter of the late Anthony and Jennie Taucher Jurjavcic.

Joan was a 1965 graduate of East Palestine High School and a 1984 graduate of St. Elizabeth Nursing School where she received her diploma of Nursing. She then went on to Youngstown State, where she graduated in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She worked her entire career as a nurse at St. Elizabeth Health Center prior to her retirement. Joan also received certification from R.B. She was very well respected by her peers in the hospital and won the Daisy Award for extraordinary nurses in 2011. When not working she enjoyed gardening, canning, cross stitching and baking, but what was most important to her was spending time with her family and most especially her grandchildren.
