Thomas R. Sayre
Thomas R. Sayre of Dataw Island, South Carolina passed away following a brief illness at MUSC Medical Center in Charleston, SC on February 12, 2022. A native of Wellsville, Ohio, Tom was born on June 19, 1946, the son of Leo and Melinda “Jane” Sayre. He was 1964 graduate of Wellsville High School.
Tom was an avid golfer, outdoorsman and conservationist. If he wasn’t planning or building a housing development in harmony with and respect for nature and habitat, he was often on the links, enjoying the outdoors, or having cocktails on the deck. He was a much beloved husband, father, and grandfather to whom this loss is profound. Tom is survived by his wife and best friend, Julie Bailey Sayre of South Carolina, daughter Melinda Conrad (Paul) of Tennessee, son Gregory Sayre of Virginia, stepdaughter Ellena Canape (Todd) of Virginia, grandsons Christian, Carson and Ethan, sister Wanda Hanlon of Ohio, and brother Charles Sayre (Lisa) of Georgia. His daughter, Mary Elizabeth predeceased him.
On June 19, 2022, in accordance with Tom’s wishes, he will be placed to rest at location dear to him within a Pennsylvania State Forest during a private ceremony.
