Marjorie Ann Bailey Smith
LISBON — Marjorie Ann Bailey Smith of Salineville died on June 13, 2022 at Continuing Healthcare of Lisbon.
She was born in New Cumberland, W.Va. on August 31, 1929 to William D. ‘Red’ Sr. and Mabel Garrison Bailey.
Marjorie grew up in Hancock County, W. Va. where she attended Shepherd’s Valley School – a one room schoolhouse and graduated in 1947 from Chester High School.
Margie retired from what was then Worthington Industries just several weeks before turning 80 years old. She was a long-time member of Yellow Creek Presbyterian Church, serving as an elder and Sunday school teacher over the years.
Along with her best friend, Lois Kelly, Marjorie was involved in a clown ministry, known as “Peaches and Cream”. They often performed Christian based skits at their home church, Yellow Creek Presbyterian, as well as various other local churches.
Other favorite hobbies included reading, planting hostas, and writing poems. She had published a book entitled “Rhyme Time” in recent years.
Marjorie married George E. Smith Jr. and together they had seven children. Of those seven, she is survived by Susan, Graubner, Robert (Brenda) Smith of Guilford Lake, Richard (Lisa) Smith of Wellsville and Linda (Tom) Haught of Guilford Lake, along with 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Proceeding Marjorie in death were sons, David Smith, Gerald Smith and James “Jamie” Smith, as well as her parents and only sibling William D. Bailey Jr.
Additionally, she is survived by two very special friends, James Martinelli and Carol Minto.
There are no services planned.
