R. Douglas Phelps

LISBON — R. Douglas Phelps, 54, of Lisbon, died April 7, 2022 at the Cleveland Clinic.

He was born on September 16, 1967, in Columbus, Ohio, the son of Sharon (Phillips) Hebron and the late Ronald Lee Phelps.

Doug will be always remembered and missed by his special girl, Michelle Baker of Lisbon. He is survived by his mother and step father Sharon and Keith Hebron of Rogers, his children: James D. Phelps of Leetonia and Seth D. Phelps and James (Roy Allen) (Stephanie) Larkins both of Lisbon, siblings John Franklin of Lisbon, Melanie Felger and Mindi (Shawn) Raley both of Lisbon and his grandchildren.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Alisa Phelps.

Doug worked hard in the construction industry. He most recently was with his brother-in-law, Todd Reynolds Construction. He had previously traveled around with a professional sound system building company. They were hired to set up big events like the “Great Pretenders” and many others.

In his younger years, he attended East Liverpool, Wellsville and Beaver Local Schools. He was not a big fan of school, but he did learn to be a welder at the Career Center in Lisbon.

There were many other interests he had such as fishing, target practice with guns and hunting, wrenching on cars. He was very knowledgeable about those old Chevys and other cars. He should have had that Chevy bow tie across his forehead. There was a true appreciation in tearing things apart and fixing when they broke. In the nice weather, you could find him out at Quaker City Drag Strip, watching the cars scream down the strip.

A great lover of music of all kinds and collecting DVD and VHS movies. If an old fashion movie/music exchange was around, he could get lost there for hours. Those collections also joined the model car collection, antiques and many other things.

The family and friends will always remember the stories he told, having fun with his step-dad, a personality that you just had to laugh about and all those wonderful hugs he gave out so freely.

There will be no services at this time.
