Michael ‘Mike’ Allen Gorby, Sr.

LEETONIA -- Michael "Mike" Allen Gorby, Sr., 68, passed away unexpectedly on April 10, 2022 at his home.

Mike was born in Salem, Ohio, May 31, 1953.

He retired as a machinist from Chester Hoist in Lisbon after 44 years of dedicated service. When not working, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, RZR riding and spending time with his faithful companions, his dogs, Diesel, and Turbo. Mike will always be remembered by his humor and contagious laughter.

Mike is survived by his loving wife, Holly Smith Gorby who he married January 9, 2016; four children, Michael II (Joy) Gorby of Negley, Bobbie Jo Haydt of Austintown, Sabrina Altenhof who resided with him, Chelsea (Zak) Kerr of Lisbon; seven siblings, Harold E. (Rhonda) Gorby of Salem, Cynthia Davis of Rogers, Susan Gorby of Negley, Margie Gorby of Negley, Stephanie (Scott) Dickey of New Waterford, Wesley (Lisa) Gorby of Leetonia, Lori (Tracy) Blazer of Salem; five grandchildren, Hunter, Nate, Brooke, Greg and Brian as well as a great-grandson, Grayson.

He was preceded in death by his father and stepmother, Harold E., Sr. and Helen Gorby and his mother and stepfather, Betty Jane (Dale) Blazer and his brother-in-law, Mike Davis.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6-9 p.m. at the Linsley-Royal Funeral Home and from 10-11 a.m. prior to the funeral services which will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Dana Blackburn officiating. A private burial will follow at East Carmel Cemetery in Rogers.
