Russell Edwin Reynolds

Now resting safely in the arms of Jesus, Russell Edwin Reynolds, 79, of Negley, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 5, 2022.

Russell was born on September 20, 1942 in Alcana/Steubenville, Ohio, to Elmer and Edna (Wilson) Reynolds. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Douglas Reynolds; his brother Gordon Reynolds and his sister, Rachael Edna (Reynolds) Rowand.

Left behind to cherish his life and memory are his wife of 58 and a half years, Kay (Campbell) Reynolds of Negley, his son, Russell Edwin Reynolds II of Marysville, Ohio; his son, Ronald Allen Reynolds of Chambersburg, Pa.; his daughter, Traci Lynn (Reynolds) Ketchum of Negley and his son-in-law, Richard Lee Ketchum of Negley. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Richie, Lindsey, Russell III, Matthew, Ron and Sydnie along with five great-grandchildren: Paisley, Cora, Richie, Rowen and Raylan.

Russell was a man of unshakable loyalty and courage and he passed these traits on to his children. Family meant everything to him and he absolutely adored spending time with them.

He attended East Liverpool High School before joining the United States Army in 1959. He was stationed in Korea until his discharge in 1961. As his civilian life began again, he reunited with and married the love of his life, Kay. He and Kay would have celebrated 59 years of marriage this coming October.

Russell was a man’s man, who was as tough as nails. His children often referred to him as “the toughest guy in the world”. He did things his own way and didn’t take orders from anyone, but as strong and brave as he was, he was also a very loving and generous man. As a young father, he gave his family a beautiful life in the country and coached his sons’ little league team. He would take time to help them build a ten foot snowman in the front yard, help them learn to ride their horses and play a few songs for them on his guitar.

A car salesman by trade, Russell owned his own business, Auto Wholesale in Negley. He was revered and trusted by all of his customers as an honest businessman. He retired last year.

Russell was a Christian by faith and was baptized into Christ for the remission of his sins, leaving his family with the greatest peace of knowing that Jesus has welcomed him home.

Family and friends may gather to pay respects from 4-5 p.m. Thursday at Wellsville First Christian Church, 831 Main St., Wellsville, Ohio. The funeral will begin at 5 p.m., followed by a full military service at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
