Mignon ‘Mickey’ (Lyons) Brandt
WINONA — Mignon L. “Mickey” (Lyons) Brandt, 85, of Winona, Ohio, died at her home on Monday, October 18, 2021, following a brief illness. She was born on July 9, 1936, in Weirton, W.Va., a daughter of the late Charles Brugh and Shirley Mignon (Randolph) Lyons.
Mrs. Brandt, a 1954 graduate of Salem High School, was a resident of the area most of her life. She was employed as a receptionist at Crane Deming Pumps for many years and was a member of Winona United Methodist and Lisbon Trinity Friends churches. Mrs. Brandt operated the flax loom at the Winona Flax Scutching Festival and enjoyed spending time playing cards with her card club, swimming at the Salem Community Center with her friends, affectionately known as The Cougars, and doting on her family at home.
Her husband, Galen G. Brandt Sr., whom she married on September 4, 1955, preceded her in death August 20, 1994.
She is survived by her three children, Robert Scott (Paula) Brandt of Satellite Beach, Fla., Galen (Paula) Brandt, Jr., of East Rochester, and Sheila (David) Starcher of Salem; siblings Eleanor Alexander of Okeechobee, Fla., Jacque (Dale) Iler of Salem, and Sharlene (David) Brown of Conneaut Lake, Pa., Donna Crosser of Lisbon, Carna Czatt of Lorain, Mary Swegan of Sebring; brothers-in-law, Gail Murphy of Damascus and Robert (Cindy) Brandt of Winona; grandchildren, Robert Scott (Nikki) Brandt II, Kristi Sinicrope, and Tyler Brandt, all of Satellite Beach, Fla., Kelli (Michael) Phelps of Maineville, Ohio, J.R. (Vanessa) Jackson of Albany, NY, Michelle (Gary Martin) Jackson of New Garden, Coty Chestnut of East Rochester, Jackee (Jen) Dividio of Sebring, and nine great-grandchildren, Alexa, Olivia, Alivia, Amelia, Charlotte, Matthew, Brandt, Patrick, and Aydyn. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mickey was also preceded in death by her cherished foster parents, James and Clara Rhodes; siblings, James “Jimmy” Rhodes, Jr., Helen Arbenitis, Betty Bartels, Donna Lou Murphy, Glenda Berg, and Sherry Lyons; brothers-in-law, Raymond and Lowell Brandt, and sister-in-law Barbara Whitacre.
Services will be announced at a later date.
