Jerry McGee

Jerry Lynn McGee, age 77, peacefully passed away in Orlando, Florida on March 31, 2021 surrounded by family.

Jerry, the son of Alva Theron and Verna McGee, grew up in New Lexington, Ohio, and attended The Ohio State University on a golf scholarship.

McGee’s professional career began in 1966 when he qualified for the PGA Tour where he won four tournaments and was a proud member of the 1977 United States Ryder Cup Team. He joined the PGA Tour Champions upon turning 50 in 1993 and played through 2005.

Jerry and his wife Jill resided in East Palestine, Ohio, for 47 years before moving to Orlando a few weeks ago to be with their children and grandchildren.

Jerry was an avid sports fan, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers and Youngstown State University. He was a tremendous supporter of the East Palestine Bulldogs sports programs and even helped coach high school basketball for a few years.

In addition to his wife Jill, Jerry is survived by his brother, Don Holden (Joel); his daughter, Roxane Love-McGee; his son, Michael McGee (Annika Sorenstam); and his daughter, Michelle McGee (Mark Riley); along with grandchildren, Dylan Love, Ava McGee, Will McGee, and Liam Riley.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Youngstown State Women’s Basketball Team. The family will be coordinating a Celebration of Life in the near future.
