James ‘Jim’ O’Rourke

EAST LIVERPOOL -- James A. "Jim" O'Rourke, 85, of East Liverpool, died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2019 at Calcutta Health Care.

Born in Wellsville, Ohio on April 15, 1934, he was the son of the late John B. and Ruby J. (Allen) O'Rourke.

A lifetime area resident, he was a Korean War veteran of the U.S. Navy and worked as a grinder for the former Crucible Steel. He also worked as a security guard for the Homer Laughlin China Co., for 19 years, retiring in 2014, and was a member of the Grace Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by a daughter, Peggy Shoaff (Jim Lewis) of New Springfield; a granddaughter; five great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Leah Rae (McAdoo) O'Rourke, and a brother:, Jack O'Rourke.

Services will be 4 p.m. Monday at the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes in Calcutta with Tom Gualtier officiating. Full military honors will be accorded. Burial will be at Calcutta Cemetery. Calling hours are 2-4 p.m. Monday.
