George ‘Jack’ Hawk

George “Jack” Allen Hawk, age 85, of East Rochester, Ohio, passed away at his home Friday, January 19, 2018.

He was born December 26, 1932 in Newark, Ohio, to Elwin Austin and Hazel Lucille (Haas) Hawk.

Jack was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, neighbor and friend. He retired from Sugardale Meats where he worked as a maintenance mechanic for 26 years, but what he enjoyed most was spending time on his farm with his dear wife Twylla, family, neighbors and friends. He was an active member of the New Alexander Christian Church and The P’na Sportsman Club.

He is survived by his daughter, Debbie (John) Murphy of Amarillo, Texas; a daughter-in-law. Teresa Hawk-McCure of Columbia, S.C.; five brothers: Neil (Rose) Hawk of Dresden, Ohio, Charles (Sue) Hawk of Minerva, Ohio, Thomas (Sheri) Hawk of Minerva, Ohio, Sam (Cindy) Hawk of East Rochester, Ohio and Ted (Diane) Hawk of East Rochester, Ohio; one sister, Ann (Dave) Merker of Minerva, Ohio; six grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Twylla May (Freed) Hawk; a son, David Hawk; a daughter, Linda Harrod; a brother, E. A. “Junior” Hawk; and four sisters, Bonnie Runk, Wanda Pandin, Frances Woolf and Jean Schneider.

Donations may be made to the New Alexander Christian Church or to the Alliance Hospice.

Calling hours for George will be at the New Alexander Christian Church on Monday, January 22, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. and one hour before the funeral. The funeral will be Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at noon at the church. Burial will be in the Hawk-Sanor Cemetery in East Rochester.
