-- Officers spoke to a person by phone at 7:58 a.m. Wednesday about a theft. The caller advised that someone unknown to them had taken a package off her porch in the 400 block of East Fourth Street without her knowledge or permission. Officers advised them of their options for dealing with the situation.
-- Debris in the roadway was reported in the area of Vine Avenue and East Third Street at 7:17 a.m. Wednesday. Officers removed most of the debris and contacted the street department to remove the rest.
-- A person to be removed was reported in the 700 block of South Broadway Avenue at 11:34 p.m. Tuesday. Officers spoke with the person in question, who appeared to be intoxicated, and they contacted a family member for a ride home.
-- An animal complaint was reported in the 500 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 8:36 p.m. Tuesday. The caller advised that a dog had chased her son and his friend in the 200 block of West Fourth Street, but no injuries were sustained. Officers advised the owner of the dog to keep it confined to his property.
-- A suspicious person was reported in the 2300 block of East State Street at 4:25 p.m. Tuesday. The caller advised an unknown man was seen looking into her vehicle and trying to open the door. Officers located the man in question at another location and advised he had looked at the vehicle due to liking the model but never attempted to open the door. Officers suggested he refrain from looking into the vehicles of people he does not know in the future.
-- The school resource officer was advised of an issue with a student that attends the Utica Shale Academy in Salineville at 3:01 p.m. Tuesday. The juvenile's parent advised that they hadn't returned home since the last time they filed a runaway juvenile report. They advised that they had learned the child was staying in a house in Salineville with 20 other juveniles, and that there were several issues going on at the residence. The parent advised that they had already contacted the juvenile court about the issues and just wanted the matter documented with a report.
-- James Curtis, 83, Salem, was cited for failure to control after his northbound vehicle on Continental Drive struck the rear of a parked United State Postal Service vehicle on Roosevelt Avenue at 2:02 p.m. Tuesday. Both vehicles sustained disabling damage and were removed by Sinsley's Towing. Curtis was transported to the Salem Regional Medical Center by EMT for suspected minor injuries.
-- A verbal dispute between two customers was reported at a business in the 2800 block of East State Street at 10:16 a.m. Tuesday. When officers arrived, one of the involved parties had already left, and they were advised that nothing physical had occurred.
--A one-vehicle crash was reported in the 900 block of East Pershing Street at 7:26 a.m. Tuesday. The vehicle was traveling east on East Pershing Street and veered off the right side of the roadway striking a utility pole. The driver, Eldon Ramsey, 77, Salem, was transported to the Salem Regional Medical Center emergency room by EMT for possible injuries. The vehicle was towed from the scene by Kaiser Towing.
