Sheriff's Office
-- A woman from Hillside Drive, Butler Township, reported at 9:36 p.m. Saturday that she's in the state of Florida and her estranged husband entered her residence through the outside basement door and turned off the security camera while her 15-year-old son was at the residence by himself and locked himself in his bedroom. Upon arrival, deputies were advised by a neighbor that the man left before deputies arrived. A deputy spoke with the woman and advised her how to obtain a protection order.
-- A man on Center Road, Knox Township reported at 9:18 p.m. Saturday that a vehicle, unknown description, came by his residence westbound and shots were fired from the vehicle. A deputy checked the area but didn't find anything.
-- A woman on Lake Front Drive, Knox Township, reported at 7:48 p.m. Saturday that her neighbor was chasing the ducks, making noise and running after them.
-- A deputy was dispatched at 1:33 p.m. Thursday for a report of a stripped down 4-wheeler parked along Pine Hollow Road, Rogers. The deputy located the stripped down Polaris 4-wheeler abandoned along the road and checked with area residents to see if anyone was missing a 4-wheeler. Residents reported hearing it around 7:30 a.m. going down the road, as it was very noisy, but no one was missing a 4-wheeler. There was no visible serial number plate on the 4-wheeler, indicating it may have been stolen. The 4-wheeler was towed by Baker Towing.
-- Deputies responded to North Market Street, Lisbon to assist Lisbon police on a traffic stop, assisting with the inventory of the vehicle while the Lisbon officer completed field sobriety tests on the driver. The driver was transported by Lisbon police to the Ohio State Highway Patrol and the vehicle was towed.
-- A domestic violence report was taken at the sheriff's office in Lisbon at 8:58 p.m. Aug. 4 regarding an incident that occurred on East Liverpool Road, Madison Township. Warrants were issued for Madison Township woman for domestic violence and aggravated menacing.
Highway Patrol
-- Madelynne M. Schweiger, 22, Canonsburg, Pa., was cited for reasonable control after her westbound vehicle traveled off of state Route 172 and struck an electrical box and a culvert at 11 a.m. Aug. 14 in Hanover Township.
-- No injuries were reported when an eastbound vehicle driven by Jeryck A. Givens, 27, state Route 45, Lisbon, on U.S. Route 30 struck a beaver crossing the road at 3:20 a.m. Aug. 13 in Elkrun Township.
-- Vincent E. Delaroza, 27, North Market Street, East Palestine, was cited for reasonable control after his westbound vehicle went off of the right side of Padgett Road and struck trees at 4 a.m. Aug. 13 in Unity Township. He suffered suspected minor injuries, but wasn't transported.
-- A 17-year-old Leetonia boy was cited for a stop sign violation after his northbound vehicle on Depot Road failed to yield at the stop sign and struck a westbound vehicle on state Route 172 driven by Zachary T. Shuler, 31, New Brighton, Pa., at 4:54 p.m. Aug. 12 in Center Township. No injuries were reported.
-- A hit/skip was reported at 9:11 p.m. Aug. 10 on Myers Road in West Township when a motorcycle failed to negotiate a curve and overturned. No name was listed on the report, but serious injuries were suspected.
Perry Township
-- Officers were advised of a vehicle fleeing from the Salem Police Department at 2:27 a.m. Thursday. Officers were able to get behind the vehicle, which continued traveling at a speed of 130 miles per hour on state Route 14. The Goshen Township Police Department and Ohio State Highway Patrol were notified. The highway patrol later located the vehicle, and the driver fled on foot.
-- A man trespassing was reported in the 1100 block of Prospect Street at 11:13 p.m. Aug. 12. Officers attempted to speak with an owner who refused to answer the door.
-- Officers assisted EMT and the Perry Township Fire Department at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 12 with a medical call. The patient was transported by EMT.
-- Officers spoke with a woman at the police department at 3:34 p.m. Aug. 11 regarding an ongoing identity theft issue. The caller advised that they keep receiving past due bills in the mail from Saint Clair Community College despite never being enrolled or attending college there. The woman was advised to look at her credit reports and freeze their credit if there is anything suspicious. The matter is under investigation.
-- A juvenile complaint was reported in the 1200 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 9:32 a.m. Aug. 11. Officers were advised that a 12-year-old juvenile had been taking their grandmother's credit card without permission and purchasing things online. Officers were advised that due to the issue being ongoing and running out of disciplinary options, they wanted to matter to be forwarded to the juvenile court.
-- Officers returned to the 2200 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 10 for a domestic dispute. The male half who had left the residence earlier in the evening had now locked the female half and their 19-month-old child out of the residence. Officers advised them that he could not lock them out of their own residence.
-- A domestic was reported in the 2200 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 3:41 p.m. Aug. 10. Officers spoke with both parties and were advised that they had a verbal altercation and the male half wanted to leave but his vehicle was blocked in by the female's vehicle. After speaking with both parties, the vehicle was moved and the male half left.
-- A juvenile issue was reported in the 1300 block of Georgetown Road at 1 p.m. Aug. 10. Officers were advised that a 16-year-old juvenile male had been sent photos from a female of the same age wearing revealing clothing. Officers spoke with the guardian of the male and will attempted to get the information of the female and her guardian to advise them of the complaint.
-- A trespass complaint was reported in the 1100 block of Prospect Street at 9:12 a.m. Aug. 10. Officers were advised that a man was inside an apartment he had previously been trespassed from. Officers spoke with the resident of the apartment who advised that the man was not present and that officers could not check the apartment.
-- A vehicle was reported to have crashed into a residence causing a power outage in the 1200 block of Highland Avenue at 1:32 a.m. Aug. 9. The impact of the vehicle also caused a gas leak prompting the evacuation of neighboring residences as a precaution. The driver, Jacob Bezon, 29, Salem, was cited for OVI and failure to control and transported to the Salem Regional Medical Center by EMT.
Salem
-- A suspicious person was reported in the 2300 block of Lexington Avenue at 11:48 p.m. Sunday. The caller advised that a man was asking to use a phone and became agitated when told he could not enter the facility. Officers spoke with the man and gave them a ride to the police department to find a ride out of the city.
-- A man was reported lying in the curb lawn in the 500 block of East Eighth Street at 10:10 p.m. Sunday. Officers spoke with the man, Shawn Timmons, 40, Salem, who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and admitted to having a few beers prior to walking. Timmons was cited for disorderly conduct and given a courtesy transport to his residence.
-- An animal complaint was reported in the 1300 block of Ridgewood Drive at 7:59 p.m. Sunday. The caller advised that a dog was running around and attempting to bite another dog. When officers arrived, the dog had already been caught by a bystander. Officers transported the dog to the police department to be scanned with a chip reader. The dog's owner was located and it was returned home.
-- Two men attempting to break into a building was reported in the 100 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 6:41 p.m. Sunday. Officers spoke with the people in question who advised that they were just trying to take pictures of the building and were not trying to get in.
-- A semi-truck reportedly ran over a stop sign in the 100 block of West State Street at 5:03 p.m. Sunday. Officers located the sign coming off the alley onto South Howard Avenue. Traffic and Safety will replace the sign.
-- Officers responded to the 400 block of Washington Avenue at 9:15 p.m. Saturday in reference to a vehicle striking a utility pole then leaving the scene. Officers found the vehicle at nearby residence with wood from the pole still lodged in its fender. The owner and her son claimed a friend had been driving, but failed to provide proof of the driver. The vehicle was towed and will be impounded until a driver is identified.
-- Officers were speaking with a woman on station at 5:59 p.m. Saturday in reference to a domestic dispute and observed a syringe in a pants pocket. The officer also found additional contraband in the woman's bag. The woman requested medical assistance for an unrelated matter and was transported to the Salem hospital. A warrant will be issued for the drug abuse instruments.
-- Officers responded to Centennial Park at 5:39 p.m. Saturday in reference to multiple juveniles cursing at each other and threatening to fight. An officer spoke with one of the juveniles still on scene who said she and her friend were being harassed by multiple juveniles.
- Officers responded to the 200 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 12:21 a.m. Saturday in reference to a fight involving 20 to 25 individuals. Officers were unable to find the victim and no one provided any names of the people involved.
- Officers responded with medical personnel to the 300 block of Newgarden Avenue at 4:30 p.m. Friday in reference to a juvenile who had crashed an electric scooter. The road was temporarily closed and the juvenile was transported by the Salem Fire Department to a medical facility outside the city.
- An officer responded to the 400 block of Woodland Avenue at 12:06 p.m. Friday where a resident reported $20 had been stolen from their vehicle between 9 a.m. and noon that day.
- An officer responded with medical personnel to the 900 block of Fair Avenue at 7:10 a.m. Friday in reference to a natural death and stood by until a funeral home arrived.
- Officers responding to the 1300 block of East State Street at 4:47 a.m. Friday were advised in a separate incident of a stolen cabinet.
- Officers responded to a Bentley Drive facility at 12:02 a.m. Friday in reference to a combative patient having a mental health crisis and blocking the rear door. The patient eventually moved away from the door and officers gained entry. The patient was transported to a hospital for evaluation.
- Megan Richards, 40, Salem, was charged with two counts of aggravated menacing after officers responded to the 300 block of East Fifth Street at 12:49 p.m. Thursday in reference to a domestic involving a firearm. Officers determined Richards to be the primary aggressor and recovered a 9mm pistol.
- Officers responded to a North Cunningham Road business at 8:37 a.m. Thursday in reference to a man who was not welcome after a previous issue that morning. Officers escorted the man to his room to gather his belongings and then told him not to return.
-- A suspicious vehicle was located in the 100 block of Continental Drive with its parking lights on and parked in line with other vehicles for sale at 2:23 a.m. Thursday. When the vehicle was illuminated with overhead lights, it pulled out of the lot and fled from officers. A pursuit was initiated through a section of the neighborhood before continuing west on Benton Road. The pursuit was terminated after sight of the vehicle was lost. The vehicle was later recovered by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and found to be stolen out of Trumbull County.
-- A domestic dispute was reported in the 1300 block of East State Street at 1 a.m. Thursday. Officers spoke with both parties separately and determined that an argument had occurred, and both parties wanted to have no further contact with each other. The male half was advised to leave and did so with a friend. The female half was advised to contact the police if there were any further issues.
-- A possible water line break was reported in the 200 block of West Tenth Street at 8:26 p.m. Wednesday. Officers checked the area and did not see any signs of a break and advised the property owner to contact the water department in the morning.
-- A missing juvenile was reported in the 1000 block of Cleveland Street at 7:58 p.m. Wednesday. The caller advised that the juvenile had not been seen since 10 a.m. and had not stopped to check in at home. The juvenile was later located at a local church event and returned home with the caller.
-- Ariel Durham, Salem, was taken into custody and transported to the Columbiana County Jail charged with criminal trespass at 6:20 p.m. Wednesday for allegedly lying in the yard of a residence they had previously been trespassed from.
-- The front and rear doors of a vacant residence in the 1100 block of Cleveland Street were reported to be open at 11:51 a.m. Wednesday. Officers were unable to check the interior of the residence due to its condition. The doors were secured, and the housing department was notified.
-- Jeremy Morales, 25, Youngstown, was cited for truck off a state route after his semi-truck pulled cable lines down in the 100 block of West Tenth Street at 7:23 a.m. Wednesday.
-- A dispute between residents was reported in the 300 block of East Sixth Street at 12:20 a.m. Wednesday. It was reported that a woman was pushed and other parties were threatened, but nobody wanted to pursue charges, and everyone involved agreed to separate for the evening. A short time later officers were called back to the same residence for a report of a woman breaking things. Officers spoke with the woman, who was gathering belongings to leave the residence. Officers stood by until they were given a ride from the residence.
-- A person banging on the door of a residence was reported in the 1000 block of East Fourth Street at 10:40 p.m. Tuesday. Officers checked the residence and surrounding alleys but did not find any sort of disturbance.
-- A person operating an electric scooter recklessly was reported in the area of North Howard Avenue and West Pershing Street at 7:58 p.m. Tuesday. Officers briefly observed the person in question but lost track of them before arriving to the reported location. Officers were unable to locate anyone after a further check of the area.
-- A suspicious person was reported in the 600 block of East Seventh Street at 7:19 p.m. Tuesday. The caller advised that a man was banging on the door of their residence. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate anyone.
-- Officers checked on a person reportedly walking back and forth between the windows of the drive-thru at a business in the 1700 block of East State Street at 1:53 a.m. Wednesday. Officers spoke with the person who advised he needed something to drink, and the fire department and EMT responded due to the person appearing to be under the influence of unknown substances. The man was later transported to the Salem Regional Medical Center.
-- Officers on patrol in the 600 block of East Euclid Street observed two chickens walking on the sidewalk at 5:28 p.m. Tuesday. Officers attempted to speak with the owner of the animals at their residence but were unable to do so. The report was forwarded to the zoning department.
-- A domestic in progress was reported in the 1200 block of East Pershing Street at 4:27 p.m. Tuesday. The caller advised that a juvenile they had guardianship for was threatening him. Officers spoke with all parties, and they agreed to separate for the evening.
-- Officers spoke with a man at the police department at 4:19 p.m. Tuesday regarding issues with a landlord. The man advised that the landlord had come into his residence while he was away and removed items. The man was unable to name any items that were removed from the residence and did not want to pursue charges but wanted the landlord to leave them alone until they move out. The landlord was advised not to contact the caller any further.
-- Theft from a bank account was reported in the 200 block of South Broadway Avenue at 2:59 p.m. Tuesday. Information was gathered and the matter is under investigation.
-- Officers checked on a person reported walking in the 800 block of West State Street in a medical gown at 12:05 p.m. Tuesday. Officers spoke with the person in question who advised they were walking to a residence on Benton Road and that they were okay.
-- Officers spoke with a woman at the police department that was experiencing a medical emergency at 3:57 a.m. Tuesday. The fire department end EMT responded, and the woman was transported to a medical facility for further evaluation.
-- A tree reportedly fell on a house in the 200 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 2:19 a.m. Tuesday. Officers observed that a tree had fallen on the porch roof and advised that the fire department and Ohio Edison would need to respond.
-- A resident reported that someone was attempting to break into their residence in the 200 block of South Howard Avenue at 12:24 a.m. Tuesday. Officers did not locate anyone.
-- Officers spoke with a person by phone at 11:51 p.m. Monday regarding an ongoing neighbor dispute. The caller advised that their neighbor is activating their motion sensor light and reporting it to the zoning department. They were advised that the matter was civil.
-- A suspicious person was reported in the 1000 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 11:06 p.m. Monday. Officers observed a person matching the description and conducted a traffic stop on their vehicle and found that the driver, Darion Valentini, Salem, was driving under suspension. Drug paraphernalia was also located on the passenger seat of the vehicle, and Valentini was taken into custody and transported to the Columbiana County Jail charged with drug paraphernalia and issued a citation for driving under suspension.
-- A person staying in a garage was reported in the 700 block of East Third Street at 9:27 p.m. Monday. Officers located a man and woman inside the garage and the man, Daniel Dochteman, 59, Salem, was found to have an active warrant out of Columbiana County. Dochterman was taken into custody and transported to the Columbiana County Jail.
-- John McCallister, 55, Salem was taken into custody for an outstanding warrant in the area of North Lincoln Avenue and East Third Street at 8:39 p.m. Monday. Contraband was located on McCallister's person during a search incident to arrest, and he was transported to the Columbiana County Jail for the warrant. Potential additional charges are pending lab results.
-- Officers spoke with a person at the police department at 5:36 p.m. Monday about an alleged theft in the 600 block of East Third Street. The person advised that in January his cell phone and debit card had been stolen from his vehicle and that unauthorized charges had been made to his bank account. Officers provided them with a report number to dispute the transactions through their bank.
-- A suspicious person was reported in the area of East State Street and Brooklyn Avenue at 12:40 p.m. Monday. Multiple reports were received of a man swaying while walking in a hospital gown. Officers spoke with the man, who advised he had just been released from the hospital, and transported him back to his residence on Vine Avenue.
-- A person was reported passed out on the sidewalk in the area of East Pershing Street and South Howard Avenue at 4:53 a.m. Monday. Officers found that the person was suffering from drug use and needed medical attention, and the fire department and EMT were contacted to transport them for further evaluation.
-- Suspicious activity was reported in the 1400 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 1:31 a.m. Monday. The caller advised that they had heard screaming and when they looked outside, they saw their neighbor's screen door lying in the yard. Officers spoke with the neighbor who advised that he had been drinking and fallen into the screen door.
-- Officers checked the 400 block of Franklin Street at 1:25 a.m. Monday for an elderly person who had left their home at about 10 p.m. and had not been seen since. Officers checked the area and eventually spoke with the caller's brother who advised that the person in question had been admitted to the hospital for evaluation the day prior.
-- A person to be removed was reported at the Salem Regional Medical Center at 8:55 p.m. Sunday. The person in question had an active warrant but was in a state of clear mental distress requiring medical evaluation. After being refused at the emergency room by the charge nurse, the person was transported to another hospital for evaluation by EMT.
-- Samara Martin, 20, Hanoverton, was cited for operation of a vehicle at stop signs after her vehicle failed to yield at the intersection of South Lincoln Avenue and Olive Street and was struck by a vehicle driven by Kylee Jones, 22, Lisbon, at 8:38 p.m. Sunday. No injuries were reported.
-- Officers spoke with a person at the police department about an ongoing neighbor dispute at 4:59 p.m. Sunday. The person advised they had video footage of the neighbor dumping an unknown liquid onto their property. Officers provided them with their options for dealing with the situation.
-- An animal complaint was reported in the 2800 block of East State Street at 4:38 p.m. Sunday. The caller advised that a dog had been locked inside a vehicle. The vehicle was located with the window's cracked and running and food and water accessible to the animal, and officers spoke with the owner who had been in the store for about 10 minutes. Everything checked okay.
-- A medical emergency was reported in the 100 block of South Howard Avenue at 4:24 p.m. Sunday. Officers stood by until the person was transported to the emergency room.
