Sheriff's Office
-- A welfare check was requested at 3:53 a.m. Saturday at a residence on Glenn Road, Madison Township. Deputies were unable to make contact at the residence, but the person later called and said the caller was an ex-boyfriend and only wanted to know where she was. A deputy tried to call him back, but he did not answer and his voicemail was full.
-- A deputy on patrol at 2:14 a.m. Saturday located a vehicle in the Pit Stop parking lot, state Route 164, Wayne Township. The vehicle was unoccupied with no persons around. The building was checked and appeared secure.
-- An abandoned vehicle was reported at 11:38 p.m. Friday on Steubenville Pike near Bolivar Road, Hammondsville. A deputy and the caller attempted to locate the driver with no success. A call was placed to the Columbus Police Department to attempt to make contact with the owner or family member. It was learned the vehicle broke down and the driver called for a tow, however, the tow company could not find the vehicle. The driver was safe in Steubenville at this time. The vehicle was towed by First Class Towing to their lot and the owner was provided company information.
-- Deputies were dispatched at 2:02 a.m. Friday to Fireside Lake Campground, Rochester Road, West Township for a domestic dispute. Deputies spoke with both parties involved and they agreed to separate for the night and said everything was verbal between them.
Highway Patrol
-- Duane P. Mahoney, 69, Dover, was cited for accused clear distance and failure to stop after an accident when the load on the semi truck he was driving west on Cream Ridge Road in Elkrun Township struck the overhead power lines at 12:40 p.m. July 13. The citation ticket said damage was caused to the pole and a house and the truck continued without stopping. No injuries were reported.
Perry Township
-- Tyler Fullum, 27, Hanoverton, was cited for OVI after a traffic stop on Stewart Road for a marked lane violation at 12:57 a.m. Sunday.
-- A downed tree blocking the roadway was reported on Egypt Road near Painter Road at 9:12 p.m. Saturday. Officers were able to remove the tree from the roadway.
-- A downed tree blocking the roadway was reported on Cunningham Road at 6:59 p.m. Saturday. Officers provided traffic control until the fire department could remove the tree.
-- Officers on patrol in the area of U.S. Route 62 located an exhaust in the roadway at 2:52 a.m. Saturday. Officers removed it from the roadway.
-- Illegal dumping was reported in the 1100 block of Prospect Street at 11 a.m. Friday. The caller advised that two hooded men that do not live in their apartment complex had been seen dumping bags of garbage in the dumpster.
-- Suspicious activity was reported in the 800 block of West Pidgeon Road at 10:49 p.m. Thursday. The caller advised that multiple people with flashlights were looking into a neighbor's window. It was found that the neighbors were watering their garden.
-- A man with an altered mental state was reported in the 900 block of Canterbury Lane at 9:35 p.m. Thursday. The man was transported for further evaluation by EMT.
Salem
-- A person who had previously been removed from a residence in the 1700 block of Fairview Court reportedly returned to the residence intoxicated at 2:45 a.m. Tuesday. The person had returned to collect a vehicle despite being intoxicated and having no license. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle, and neighboring agencies were advised to be on the lookout for the vehicle.
-- A person to be removed was reported in the 1700 block of Fairview Court at 11:56 p.m. Monday. The person in question was trespassed from the residence while they waited for a family member to give them a ride home. After they were picked up, officers advised them to call back if the person returned to the residence.
-- A suspicious person was reported in the 700 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 8:46 p.m. Monday. The caller advised that a person they knew was on their front porch banging on the door and that they were uncomfortable opening the door. The person was told to leave the property and not return.
-- A dog wandering loose was reported in the 600 block of Franklin Avenue at 7:36 p.m. Monday. The caller had secured the dog in their backyard and was put in contact with the county humane officer. Later in the evening, the dog's owner was located.
-- Attempted burglary was reported in the 1400 block of Eastview Drive at 6:58 p.m. Monday. The caller advised that sometime over the past week an unknown person had attempted to pry the rear porch door open. Nothing in the porch was taken, nor was there any sign that entry was made into the porch. Photos were taken.
-- A person was reported walking on the tracks of the South Ellsworth Avenue railroad crossing at 5:10 p.m. Monday. Officers spoke with the person who advised that he was picking up trash. Officers advised him to stay off the tracks.
-- Officers spoke with a person at the police department at 5:04 p.m. Monday regarding possible fraud. Officers advised them of their options for dealing with the situation.
-- A person to be removed was reported in the 600 block of East State Street at 4:42 p.m. Monday. Officers located the person in question, who was waiting for a family member to come pick them up, and advised them that they were trespassed from the property at the owner's request.
-- A road rage incident was reported in the 700 block of West State Street at 12:45 p.m. Monday. The caller advised that while he was walking in front of a parking lot a vehicle pulling in nearly struck him and he had made a comment to the driver of the vehicle. The driver then allegedly exited the vehicle and had a verbal altercation with the caller before re-entering their vehicle and driving away. The caller advised that he did not feel safe and wanted a report on file.
-- An unknown issue was reported in the 200 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 11:48 a.m. Monday. The caller advised a person who they were supposed to have no contact with had added him on social media and requested it be documented. Officers spoke with the person in question who advised that it was an accident.
