Sheriff's Office

-- A deputy responded at 5:49 p.m. Thursday to Yeager Drive, East Liverpool for a disturbance, making contact with the people involved. The deputy was advised everything was okay and the person who started the issue had left.

-- Deputies were dispatched at 8:41 p.m. Wednesday to Woodsdale Road, Hanoverton for a domestic dispute. A woman advised everything was okay and said the man had left before they arrived. She signed a refusal form.

Highway Patrol

-- Alan J. Dooley, 39, Mineral Ridge, was cited for a stop sign violation after his northbound vehicle on Lower Elkton Road went through the stop sign and was struck by a westbound vehicle on state Route 558 driven by John L. Gibson, 36, Lower Elkton Road, Leetonia, which then went off the right side of the road at 4:06 p.m. July 15 in Fairfield Township. No injuries were reported.

-- Michael D. Doyle, 33, North Canton, was cited for reasonable control after his westbound vehicle traveled off the north side of state Route 172 in Hanoverton, struck a dirt culvert and tree and overturned onto the driver side at 9:10 a.m. July 15. Doyle suffered suspected minor injuries, but was not transported.

-- Matthew R. Russell, 42, Hartville, was cited for reasonable control after the trailer attached to his pickup while eastbound on state Route 172 overturned during the negotiation of a curve, causing the pickup to travel off of the left side of the road and strike an embankment and sign at 10:03 a.m. July 13 in West Township. No injury was reported.

-- Illness was listed as the condition on a report for Robert M. Dailey, 61, Carter Road, New Waterford, whose northbound vehicle went off of the right side of Middleton Road and struck a ditch at 4:57 p.m. July 12 in Fairfield Township. He suffered a suspected minor injury, but was not transported. No citation was listed.

Salem

-- Soliciting was reported in the 2300 block of Kennedy Drive at 7:45 p.m. Thursday. Officers advised the person in question that soliciting was not permitted in the city, and they returned to their vehicle without further issue.

-- A suspicious person was reported at a business in the 2500 block of East State Street at 6:44 p.m. Thursday. Employees advised that the person in question had been standing around in front of the store and lunged at a customer. Officers spoke with the man, and he agreed to leave the area.

-- Santiago Hernandez, 28, Salem, was cited for assured clear distance ahead after his westbound vehicle struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Karen Manning, 65, Salineville, in the 700 block of Aetna Street at 3:47 p.m. Thursday.

-- An assault was reported at a medical facility in the 2500 block of Bentley Drive at 1:12 p.m. Thursday. An employee advised that two residents had been in a physical dispute and that the facility needed a report on file.

-- Officers assisted the fire department by providing traffic control for a structure fire in the 400 block of Benton Road at 12:50 p.m. Thursday.

-- Joann Welton, 74, Salem, was cited for failure to yield after her eastbound vehicle attempted to turn into the Salem Plaza from the 2300 block of East State Street and was struck a by vehicle driven westbound by Elyssa Colon, 36, Lisbon, at 12:26 p.m. Thursday.

-- Officers spoke with a person at the police department that was unhappy with mechanical work done at a business in the 1700 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 11:35 a.m. Thursday. Officers explained that the issue was civil and advised them to seek legal counsel.
