Highway Patrol
— Jasmine E. Foley, 18, West Pine Street, Lisbon, was cited for a right of way violation and transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown by Leetonia EMS for suspected minor injuries after making a left turn onto state Route 558 from a private drive and being struck by a westbound vehicle on state Route 558 driven by Holli L. Unkefer, 32, Sleepy Hollow Drive, Leetonia at 1:33 p.m. June 19 in Salem Township. Unkefer also suffered suspected minor injuries and was taken to St. Elizabeth by Columbiana EMS. Two passengers in the Foley vehicle also suffered suspected minor injuries, with an infant taken to St. Elizabeth by Leetonia EMS. The other passenger wasn’t transported.
— Gatica Jose Polco, 27, Guerroro, Mexico, was cited for a right of way violation after his eastbound vehicle on Georgetown Road turned left onto Valley Road and was struck by a westbound vehicle on Georgetown Road driven by Terry Cales, 70, West Perry Street, Salem, at 9:38 a.m. June 19 in Butler Township. Cales suffered a suspected serious injury and was taken by Winona EMS to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown. Polco wasn’t injured.
— A 17-year-old Salem teen was cited for a stop sign violation after stopping at a stop sign on South Ellsworth Avenue and failing to yield, striking a westbound vehicle on West Wilson Street driven by Sklar L. Barker, 20, Georgetown Road, Homeworth, at 10:01 p.m. June 13. No injuries were reported.
— Nathaniel Satterfield, 18, Lisbon Dungannon Road, Lisbon, was cited for reasonable control after his northbound vehicle went off the right side of Gavers Road in Hanover Township at 9:10 a.m. June 13 and struck a mailbox, then came back across the road and continued off the left side, striking a ditch and a tree. No injury was reported.
— A passenger, 12, was taken by a parent to Mercy Health Boardman for a suspected minor injury after a two-vehicle accident at 8:04 p.m. June 12 in Salem Township on Old state Route 558 when a southbound vehicle driven by Edgar Joe Merritt, 48, South Glenview Lane, Leetonia, and a northbound vehicle driven by Jayla R. Turner, 20, Youngstown, sideswiped each other. No other injuries were reported.
Perry Township
— A large fire was reported in the 400 block of Benton Road at 9:50 p.m. Tuesday. Officers located a barn on fire with the fire department, and stood by until they were no longer needed.
— A civil complaint was reported in the 1300 block of Garfield Avenue at 6:34 p.m. Tuesday. The caller advised their brother had locked them out of their house. Officers stood by until the caller was let back into the residence, at which point both parties began arguing and were given warnings for disorderly conduct.
— Louis Castelucci, 64, Salem, was cited for failure to yield after her vehicle struck another vehicle driven eastbound on East Pidgeon Road by Sky Orosz, 16, Poland, at 9:35 a.m. Tuesday when attempting to exit a business’s parking lot. No injuries were reported.
— A person to be removed was reported in the 1300 block of Garfield Avenue at 11 a.m. Monday. The person in question had been staying at the residence for an extended period of time and officers advised the caller of the eviction process.
— A camper fire was reported in the 200 block of Idaho Avenue at 6:35 p.m. June 21. Officers stood by while the fire department contained the fire.
— Officers spoke with a person about abusive messages being received by their granddaughter in the 1600 block of Van Buren Avenue at 6:18 p.m. June 21. The parents of the other juvenile were contacted to address the issue.
Salem
— An overdose was reported in the 500 block of Washington Avenue at 1:09 a.m. Friday. Officers located the person in question, and the fire department and EMT also responded and administered Naloxone. The person was transported to the Salem Regional Medical Center.
— A man was reported riding a motorcycle on the section of the Burchfield Trace alley that is only for pedestrians at 12:40 a.m. Friday. Officers located the man, who appeared to be riding the motorcycle intoxicated, and fled to South Broadway Avenue at a high rate of speed. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the man. The matter is under investigation.
— An odor of marijuana was reported in the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 10 p.m. Thursday. Officers determined the smell to be from a skunk.
— A juvenile issue was reported in the 1400 block of Maple Street at 9:24 p.m. Thursday. The caller advised three juveniles had approached them crying at Centennial Park. When officers arrived, they placed the juveniles in the back of their cruiser due to the rain and at the same time their mother called the police department to report her children missing. Officers determined that the juveniles had left home and gone to the park without their mother’s knowledge and returned them to their residence.
— An altercation between two men was reported on the 900 block of West State Street at 1:56 p.m. Thursday. Officers spoke with all parties involved and provided them with statement forms due to conflicting stories. The case was sent to the prosecutor’s office for review.
