Sheriff’s Office

— A woman on state Route 644, Hanover Township reported at 8:18 p.m. Tuesday that she came back to her residence and her brown mixed breed wiener dog was missing from inside her unlocked home. She believed that her boyfriend’s mother of Carrollton came to the residence and took the dog. A deputy attempted to call the boyfriend’s mother, but was unable to make contact.

— Minerva Police dispatched called at 6:12 p.m. Tuesday to request a welfare check on a father and son who had an altercation in their jurisdiction and were now going to their residence on U.S. Route 30, West Township. A deputy found no one at the residence.

— A spokesman for Roseland Commons, Rose Drive, Center Township reported at 5:08 p.m. Tuesday that a man who was trespassed from the property on May 29, 2024 was now on the property. Deputies checked the property but didn’t find him.

— A woman from Georgetown Road, Knox Township reported at 2:52 p.m. Tuesday that two juveniles were throwing rocks at passing vehicles in the 3000 block of Westville Lake Road, Knox Township. A deputy checked the area, but didn’t find anyone.

Salem

— A person who did not live there was reported to be sitting on the porch of a residence in the 900 block of West State Street at 3:55 a.m. Wednesday. The person advised officers that they were waiting to meet a relative there, and officers advised them to leave the porch for the time being and wait across the street.

— Officers checked on a noise complaint in the 1000 block of Superior Avenue at 10:26 p.m. Tuesday. They found a group of kids playing pickleball in the park after hours, who weren’t being loud nor causing issues. Officers advised them to keep it down and finish their game up.

— A man who had been harassing a woman on multiple apps was reported to have showed up at their residence in the 400 block of Ash Street at 9:50 p.m. Tuesday. The caller requested the matter be documented in case there were further issues and that the man be trespassed from the property. Officers advised the man to stop contacting the caller and that they had been trespassed.

— Officers were advised by a resident of a reckless operator in the area of South Union Avenue and Cleveland Street at 7:54 p.m. Tuesday. Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop for expired registration and a turn signal violation. Officers advised the driver of the complaint and issued them a warning for the expired registration.

— Menacing was reported in the 600 block of North Howard Avenue at 7:42 p.m. Tuesday. The caller advised that the father of their child had threatened to kill them over text message. The message was confirmed and charges for domestic violence will be sent to the prosecutor’s office for review.

— A juvenile issue was reported in the 100 block of Woodland Avenue at 4:59 p.m. Tuesday. Officers spoke with the involved parties and advised the adults of the options for dealing with the situation.

— A small child in the roadway was reported in the 600 block of Olive Street at 2:41 p.m. Tuesday. Officers learned that the child had been taken back inside the residence by another family member. Officers spoke with the child’s mother, and she was advised of the complaint.

— Officers spoke with a person at the police department at 1:03 p.m. Tuesday about a possible scam. They advised that they had called their bank and reported the issue already and just needed a report on file.

— Officers on patrol in the 2800 block of East State Street observed a vehicle traffic violation at 7:18 p.m. Saturday. The driver was found to have active warrants out of Portage County, but the Portage County Sheriff’s Office advised they lacked the manpower to pick up the driver. They were advised of the warrants and given a verbal warning for the traffic violations.

— A reckless operator was reported in the area of East State Street at 5:23 p.m. Saturday. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.

— A dispute between several juveniles was reported in the 700 block of West Wilson Street ate 2:56 p.m. Saturday. Officers gathered information and checked the area but did not locate the juveniles in question. The caller was advised to call back if the juveniles returned and caused further problems.

— Officers spoke with a man at the police department at 3:05 p.m. Saturday about child custody issues. The man advised they were supposed to pick up the child but were concerned the other parent would cause issues. Officers spoke with the other party, who agreed to come to the police department for the custody exchange, which was completed without incident.

— A dog was reported following a person and barking in the 800 block of Southeast Boulevard at 1:51 p.m. Saturday. The caller advised that they were walking home when the dog began following them, and they were concerned it would attempt to bite them if they continued barking. Officers distracted the dog to allow the caller to proceed home without being followed.

— Several items were reported stolen from a vehicle in the 2300 block of East State Street at 12:52 p.m. Saturday. The incident is under investigation.

— A reckless operator was reported in the area of West State Street and North Ellsworth Avenue at 8:35 a.m. Saturday. Due to inconsistencies in the vehicle’s direction of travel, officers were unable to locate them.

— Multiple people were reported harassing an employee at a business in the 100 block of West State Street at 8:39 a.m. Saturday. Officers spoke with the people and served them with trespass notices at the business’s request.

East Liverpool

— Officers responding to Thompson Park for a report of a female attacked by a dog on May 5 was told by the woman that the dog was chasing her through the woods but did not attack her. After officers were advised by dispatch that the female was a missing person from Chester, West Virginia, the officer placed her in their cruiser while they waited for more information on the female. The female was then transported to Chester.

— Michael Blair, age and address not provided, was issued a citation for a loud exhaust during a May 5 traffic stop on West 6th Street.

— An officer advised a mother that her 4-year-old and 8-year-old children were too young to be playing unsupervised after responding to her Jennings Road residence on May 5 for a report of her young children playing unsupervised in the road.

— Officers responding to a Mapletree Street residence for a complaint of someone walking around outside their house spoke with the resident who had already made multiple calls within a couple of days with the same complaint and noted the residence showed some signs of possible mental health issues. Officers looked around his house and were unable to see any signs of anybody on the property. Officers seeing that the resident was of no threat to himself, or anyone else advised him to call his case worker.

— An officer searched the parking lot of East Liverpool City Hospital at the request of hospital security on May 6 for a car that was reported to be running for several hours.

— An officer searched an area of Dresden Avenue on May 6 for goats reported to be loose.

— Two Cora Street residents were advised on how to seek a protection order against a male who was talking badly about their children after they responding to a complaint of the person standing outside their house and making threats towards them on May 6.

— Officers on May 6 spoke to a male at a Cora Street residence who told them a male had come to his residence threaten to beat him up and accused him of posting pictures of him and his child on social media.

— Officers investigated a possible fire at a Cora Street residence on May 6. When they arrived, they smelled smoke but weren’t sure where it was coming from. The fire department and ambulance arrived on scene and made contact with the homeowner who opened the door yelled there is no fire and slammed the door shut.

— An officer helped a driver move his disabled car from the entrance to the Stowers building on Webber Way after the driver flagged him down for help on May 6.

— Officers investigated reports of gun shots from the area of McKee and Gardendale on May 7. Officers checked the area and did not find anything except remnants from different types of fireworks.

— Stanley Diamond, age and address not provided, was issued a citation for a speed of 68 mph in a 55-mph zone during a May 7 traffic stop on state Route 39.

— Officers spoke with a female on May 7 who was reported to be suicidal and was told by the female that she was just walking around because her uncle was drunk and she didn’t want to be around him and when asked she told the officer she was not thinking of hurting herself or others.

— Dante Wells, 22, a passenger in a car, was identified as having an outstanding warrant during a May 7 traffic stop on Broadway Street and taken into custody.

— Officers spoke to a male at a Vine Street residence on May 7 who told officers his car was damaged and it was his ex-wife and boyfriend who were driving by it.

— David Gasior, age and address not provided, was cited for an open container after an officer saw him sitting on a concrete pad on Poplar Lane on May 7 with a half full beer and several empty beer cans around him.

— Officers investigated a drug complaint at an abandoned house on St John Street on May 7.

— An officer spoke to a Cora Street couple on May 7 who said that a male they have been having issues with was walking by their house and slowed down to record their residence and that it has been an ongoing problem with the male posting his residence and children on social media and they fear he may try to harm their children. The couple were advised on how to get a protection order.
