Sheriff’s Office
— A deputy at 4:44 p.m. Sunday returned a call to a Center Township resident at Traveler’s Inn, state Route 45, regarding a civil matter.
— A traffic complaint was reported at 3:53 p.m. Sunday on Walnut Ridge Road, Washington Road. A deputy returned the call regarding the complaint three times, but was sent to a disconnected voicemail.
— Ohio Department of Administrative Services, Columbus, reported an alarm drop at 10:50 p.m. Saturday at the MARCS tower building on Steubenville Pike Road, Center Township. The fence around the tower and the doors on the building appeared secure.
— Columbiana police requested deputies assist them at 7:09 p.m. Saturday with a person who has active warrants and is on foot in the 200 block of Pittsburgh Street, Columbiana. Deputies and New Waterford police checked the area, but didn’t find anyone.
— A firearm was reported missing from inside a North Street residence, Knox Township at 6:03 p.m. Saturday.
— An animal-related issue was reported at 2:47 p.m. Saturday by an Elkrun Township resident in the area of state Route 154.
— A welfare check was requested at 8:20 p.m. May 21 on Meadow Wood Drive, Salem. A deputy spoke to the people and they advised they were okay.
— A noise complaint was reported at 7:09 p.m. May 21 on Old Irondale Road, Yellow Creek Township.
— A menacing complaint was reported at 6:36 p.m. May 21 at Pondi’s, state Route 45, Lisbon.
— A woman on Walnut Ridge Road, Washington Township reported at 10:24 p.m. May 20 that a man she knows from Canton came to her residence and was sleeping upstairs but she wanted him removed and off of her property due to having a warrant. Dispatch advised the warrant was active through the Adult Parole Authority. He left prior to deputies arriving.
— A woman on Kevin Drive, Knox Township reported at 8:10 p.m. May 20 that the neighbors were yelling at her 16-year-old daughter and started walking toward her. A deputy spoke with them and they said they were not yelling at the girl, they were yelling at their dog that took off out of their residence and was loose.
— A woman on Walnut Street, Butler Township reported at 5:59 p.m. May 20 that her husband made suicidal threats with a firearm on May 17 and she was staying with family in Sebring and afraid to go home. Deputies spoke with him and he said he’s afraid of her. Both were advised how to get a protection order.
— A woman on Country Club Drive, Butler Township, reported at 5:11 p.m. May 20 that someone entered her residence. There was no forced entry on any doors or windows, but items on a table were moved around.
— A deputy was dispatched at 4:24 p.m. May 20 to Black Road, Center Township for a vehicle parked along the road the past four to five days. The deputy found the vehicle was a road hazard and the license plates were expired. Attempts were made to contact the registered owner of Salineville. Baking Towing removed the vehicle and transported it to their impound lot.
— Glo Fiber reported at 2:25 p.m. May 20 that wire was stolen from a telephone pole in the 41000 block of Old Irondale Road, Yellow Creek Township.
— A man on state Route 165, Unity Township reported at 10:36 p.m. May 19 that he had a brush pile on his property, left and when he returned, the pile was on fire. The fire was under control and he said he did not give permission to anyone to burn the brush pile.
— A deputy was dispatched at 6:05 p.m. May 19 to McCann Road, Butler Township for a domestic violence report. Warrants were issued for an Alliance man through Columbiana County Municipal Court for domestic violence and aggravated menacing.
— A man on Rose Drive, Center Township called 911 at 4:41 p.m. May 19 saying he took a bunch of pills and was having thoughts of suicide. He was walking on U.S. Route 62 in Knox Township. Deputies and Homeworth and Sebring EMS made contact with him. He was transported by Sebring EMS to Salem Regional Medical Center.
Lisbon
— Symone Flowers, no age or address listed, was charged with theft after officers responded to the 400 block of Maple Street at 10:58 p.m. May 26 where a resident provided video from his Ring doorbell showing her opening the resident’s truck door and removing a drink from the cup holder. Flowers was found to be extremely intoxicated and suffering a mental crisis, so EMS responded to transport her to a hospital.
— Officers responded to a North Market Street business at 9:54 p.m. May 16 where an employee reported someone had threatened to blow up the business. Officers found the person in question walking south on North Market Street and advised her she is trespassed from the business.
— Brandice Bettura, no age or address listed, was arrested on an active warrant out of Columbiana County after officers responded to a North Market Street home at 1:09 p.m. May 15 in reference to the warrant.
– Officers responded to the Counseling Center at 10:22 a.m. May 14 in reference to an individual who had been asked to leave the facility after making threats to employees. The individual was referred to the East Liverpool hospital for mental evaluation.
– Officers responded to the 100 block of Green Street at 6:40 p.m. May 11 in reference to an unresponsive person. The person’s breathing was shallow and North Star EMS responded to transport the person to a local hospital.
– Daryl Wolf, North Jefferson Street, was arrested on an active warrant out of Columbiana County after officers responded to his residence at 2:32 p.m. May 7 to serve the warrant.
– An officer responded to the 300 block of Maple Street in reference to a domestic dispute and found it to be verbal only.
– Dorian Anderson, no age or address listed, was cited for failure to control after an officer responded to the 7000 block of Rose Drive at 9:03 a.m. May 9 in which Anderson said he fell asleep at the wheel with the vehicle in gear while waiting to pick someone up.
– Officers responded to the 200 block of North Green Street at 5:15 p.m. May 5 in reference to someone sitting in a vehicle for hours. Officers found the person to be extremely intoxicated and passed out behind the wheel of the vehicle. North Star EMS responded and assisted officers in getting the person into his home, at which point he began making homicidal and suicidal comments. The person was voluntarily transported by North Star to the East Liverpool hospital.
Leetonia
— Officers observed a suspicious person in the dumpster area of a business in the first block of Hazel Street at 9:24 p.m. Thursday. The man advised he was taking cardboard from the property and officers contacted the manager of the business who advised the man did not have permission to be there and wanted them to be trespassed. Officers advised the man of the same and not to return.
— Officers spoke with a juvenile trespassing on Norfolk Southern property on Hazel Street at 8:30 p.m. Thursday. He was advised not to return.
— Officers observed a vehicle being sought by the Ohio State Highway State Patrol in the 100 block of Oak Street at 4:54 p.m. Thursday. Officers advised highway patrol of the vehicle’s location.
— A runaway juvenile was reported in the 400 block of Somer Street at 8:11 a.m. Thursday. A family member responded and took the juvenile home with them.
— A juvenile issue was reported in the 100 block of High Street at 8:12 p.m. May 19. Officers were advised that the caller’s daughter and her friend had been harassed and threatened by a group of boys at the park. They did not know where the male juveniles lived but did know that they attend Leetonia High School. They were advised to contact the school resource officer the next day.
Perry Township
— Officers responded to the area of Goshen Road at 10:28 p.m. Monday to assist a driver whose trailer had come undone. The driver was able to reconnect the trailer and move it off the roadway.
— A fire was reported to be making large amounts of smoke in the 1400 block of Manor Drive at 1:51 p.m. Monday. Officers inspected the fire and found it to be contained within a fire ring.
— Officers assisted the police department with an intoxicated man in the area of Ridgewood Avenue and South Union Avenue at 5:33 a.m. Sunday.
— Two suspicious men were reported walking around a trailer in the 1300 block of West State Street at 3:54 a.m. Sunday. Officers located an open trailer with nobody inside and secured the door. Officers were unable to locate them men in question.
— A tree in the roadway was reported in the 400 block of Stewart Road at 5:57 a.m. Saturday. The tree was removed from the roadway.
— Officers assisted the Salem Police Department with a fight at 12:11 a.m. Saturday for a reported fight in progress.
— Officers checked on a woman walking barefoot on Benton Road at 9:57 p.m. May 21. The woman advised she did not need any medical attention and was given a ride to the Salem Post Office.
— Possible child abuse was reported at the police department at 3:45 p.m. May 21. The incident is under investigation.
— A scam was reported at the police department at 12:30 p.m. May 20. The person in question lost $2,500 in a gift card scam.
— Officers spoke with a man by phone at 6:50 a.m. May 20 about an unwanted person. Officers advised them of their options.
Salem
— A man was reported unconscious in an alleyway behind a business in the 100 block of West State Street at 4:13 a.m. Tuesday. Officers spoke with the man, who advised he had fallen asleep while walking home from the gas station and proceeded home.
— Possible shots fired were reported in the area of Franklin Avenue and South Union Avenue at 9:14 p.m. Monday. Officers heard fireworks being set off.
— A fight was reported in the 600 block of Newgarden Avenue at 7:07 p.m. Monday. Officers collected statements about the incident from the people involved, and the matter will be sent to the prosecutor’s office for review.
— Menacing was reported in the 900 block of East State Street at 5:38 p.m. Monday for a report of menacing. The caller advised that their neighbor had smeared dog feces on their door handle and threatened them. Officers collected statements from both parties and a witness and advised them that they would be sent to the prosecutor’s office for review.
— Officers spoke with a person by phone about issues at their residence at 4:41 p.m. Monday. Officers provided them with the options for dealing with the situation.
— Officers spoke with a person in the 300 block of Newgarden Avenue at 4:31 p.m. Monday for a report of menacing. Officers were advised that a juvenile had heard a man making threats toward the caller’s son. Officers asked if they would be willing to provide a statement, which they confirmed. The statement will be sent to the prosecutor’s office for review.
— A combative patient was reported in the 1900 block of East State Street at 4:05 p.m. Monday. Officers stood by until they were no longer needed.
— A domestic dispute was reported in the 400 block of South Broadway Avenue at 12:07 p.m. Monday. Officers spoke with the involved parties and were advised that the argument was verbal only, and nothing physical took place.
— Officers spoke with a person about ongoing issues with their neighbor in the 900 block of East Third Street at 9:24 a.m. Monday. Officers advised them of their options for dealing with the issue.
— Officers assisted the Goshen Township Police District with an OVI test at the police department at 1:04 a.m. Monday.
— Officers assisted the Ohio State Highway Patrol with an OVI test at the police department at 12:25 a.m. Monday.
— Officers on patrol located two people playing tennis at Waterworth Memorial Park at 11:41 p.m. Sunday. Officers advised them that the park was closed and they went on their way.
— Officers removed a branch from the roadway in the area of West Pershing Street at 11:30 p.m. Sunday.
— A man was observed with a partially drunk bottle of alcohol on security cameras in Centennial Park at 7:14 p.m. Sunday. Officers advised the man, Seaton Ruffner, 42, Salem, that they could not drink inside the park or in public. He then refused multiple times to provide his address and was taken into custody and transported to the Columbiana County Jail charged with disorderly conduct.
— An unresponsive woman was reported in the 800 block of Jennings Avenue at 6:05 p.m. Sunday. The woman was transported by EMT.
— Officers were flagged down by a person on Orchard Bend Drive at 3:43 p.m. Sunday who advised that a baby deer had walked out of a nearby wooded area and had followed them through a residential neighborhood to their home. Dispatch contacted the Ohio Department of Natural Resources to have a wildlife officer contact the person about the issue.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 1:36 p.m. Sunday about vandalism of their mother’s temporary name marker at the cemetery. They advised that their mother’s maiden man had been written over her legal last name.
— Officers assisted the fire department with a medical call in the 600 block of East Third Street at 9:03 a.m. Sunday because entry into the residence needed to be forced. Access was gained, and the patient was transported to a medical facility for further evaluation.
— Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Ridgewood Drive near South Union Avenue at 4:58 a.m. Sunday. The driver, Joshua Cribas, 39, Salem, was found to be intoxicated and was taken into custody charged with OVI. He was released with a court date after booking, and his vehicle was towed by Sinsley’s Towing.
— A noise complaint was reported in the 2200 block of Southeast Boulevard at 4:57 a.m. Sunday. Officers advised the person in question of the complaint.
— A suspicious person was reported in Centennial Park after hours at 3:52 a.m. Sunday. The person advised they were on a walk and had cut through the park.
— A suspicious vehicle was located on South Ellsworth Avenue near the railroad tracks at 2:58 a.m. Sunday. The vehicle was found to be unoccupied with nobody around and was towed by Kaiser’s Towing.
— An injured animal was reported in the 900 block of Adams Avenue at 12:20 a.m. Sunday. The animal was located and euthanized.
— An irate person was reported to have struck the caller in the 100 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 9:38 p.m. Saturday. The caller advised that the person had made an inappropriate comment toward a woman causing a large argument. Officers gathered information from the involved parties and advised them to come to the police department and complete a statement the next day due to conflicting statements. One person, who was intoxicated, advised they were going to walk home and was advised they could not due to being intoxicated. Officers offered the man, Mark Stokes, 33, Meadville, Pennsylvania, a ride to the police department to wait for a ride, which he declined, and he was ultimately taken into custody charged with disorderly conduct and later released to a sober driver.
