Sheriff’s Office

— A breaking and entering report was taken on South 12th Street, Knox Township at 8:26 p.m. Saturday.

— A deputy returned a call at 5:28 p.m. Monday to a Middleton Township resident on State Line Road regarding criminal damage. The deputy advised the caller how to proceed.

— A menacing complaint was reported at 2:49 p.m. Monday on Y & O Road, Madison Township. The caller just wanted a report on file.

— A shooting complaint was reported at 8:28 p.m. Sunday on Old Irondale Road, Yellow Creek Township, with a deputy checking the area, but finding no shooting.

— A deputy at 8:06 p.m. Sunday returned two calls regarding a civil matter, spoke with both parties and told them how to proceed.

— A civil matter was reported at 5:50 p.m. Sunday by a Center Township resident on state Route 154.

— A representative of Arbaugh Mini Storage, U.S. Route 62, Knox Township reported at 8:45 p.m. Wednesday that a man was sleeping inside an unlocked storage unit. When confronted, the unknown man left the property walking on foot. Staff advised they contacted the renter of the unit and nothing at this time was missing.

— Harrison County Coroner’s Office at 5:23 p.m. Wednesday requested a deputy do a death notification at a residence on state Route 517 in Center Township. The deputy made contact with the next of kin.

— A woman on Apple Ridge Road, Salem Township reported at 5:07 p.m. Wednesday that a man on Teegarden Road, Salem Township, continues to harass her by social media on Snapchat. A deputy spoke with the man by phone and advised him to have no contact with the woman.

— A Struthers woman reported at 3:53 p.m. Wednesday that she was at Crestview Middle School, Crestview Road, Fairfield Township, to pick up her 14-year-old son when his father, of Waterford Road, Unity Township, arrived and started causing a disturbance, then grabbed her right wrist outside the main office in the hallway.

— Deputies were dispatched at 5:12 p.m. Sunday to a property on state Route 644, Kensington, Hanover Township, for a physical altercation between two men. During the course of the investigation, the victim said the suspect spit in his face and grabbed him by the neck to the point he was unable to breathe. Upon examination of the victim’s thumb, it was believed an injury was caused by a bite mark. The victim advised he was going to the hospital via car for further medical treatment. The suspect, Beau M. McGuire, 48, Gavers Road, Hanoverton, was charged with felonious assault, a second-degree felony, and strangulation, a third-degree felony. He is scheduled to face a preliminary hearing on March 30 in Columbiana County Municipal Court. Also charged was Sandi E. Phillips, 37, state Route 644, Kensington, who was on scene and allegedly causing issues by yelling at the victim from across the lot. She was given multiple opportunities to cease her behavior but continued to yell. She was charged with obstructing official business and will face a pretrial on June 8, also in county Municipal Court.

Columbiana

— Scott Knight, of Columbiana, was arrested at 1:37 a.m. March 18 in the 200 block of Spruce Street for domestic violence. Officers had been there around an hour earlier for a reported assault; however, the victim didn’t want to pursue charges at that time.

— Jason Ray, 33, of Canton was cited at 7:48 pm. March 17 for driving under suspension, following a traffic stop on state Route 14.

— Steven Cooper III, no address listed, was arrested at 11:55 p.m. March 15 on an active warrant out of Columbiana County. Upon a search incident to arrest, he was found to possess suspected narcotics.

— An officer responded at 3:28 p.m. March 15 to the 300 block of South Main Street for a reported dog bite. A report was forwarded to the Columbiana County Health Department.

East Liverpool

— An officer searched the area of West Fifth Street on March 11 for a semi-truck reported to be stuck under a bridge.

— Officers investigated a complaint of the odor of crack cooking at Fawcett Apartments on March 11.

— Jerimee Csonka, 47, address not provided, was arrested on an outstanding warrant during a March 11 traffic stop on West Fifth Street.

— Wendell Powell, 46, address not provided, was arrested and charged with tampering with evidence and issued a citation for one headlight during a March 11 traffic stop on state Route 11. According to the police report, when the officer approached the vehicle, he discovered Powell had his pants down to the middle of his thighs. The officer observed multiple torch lighters next to an unknown powder in a baggie in plain view on the passenger seat. The officer took the suspected narcotics from the seat and put them in an evidence bag and asked Powell to step out of the car. The officer observed Powell pushing something further up his groin area in what appeared to be an attempt to conceal something. Powell was told by the officer multiple times to stop trying to tuck the item. As Powell stepped from the vehicle, a burnt glass pipe fell from inside his pants. Wendell then stomped the pipe, destroying evidence. The powder substance was sent to BCI for testing. Further charges are pending.

— Officers investigated a custody and theft issue at a Pennsylvania Avenue residence on March 11. Officers spoke with a male who had left and going to his Holiday Street residence, who told them that his ex-girlfriend had stolen a phone but returned it when he wasn’t home and left their children home alone for an extended amount of time. The female said the two of them had a verbal altercation and the male was watching the children while she worked and only learned that he left when the police told her.

— A driver was issued a warning for no taillights during a March 11 traffic stop on Dresden Avenue. The driver was able to get the lights working during the stop.

— A Jackman Street resident told officers who were investigating a stolen/missing package on March 11 that he received his neighbor’s package and he returned it to her and that he ordered a package that was delivered to her address at the bottom of the steps. The neighbor told officers she had not seen or touched the package. Officers viewed cameras in the area, but none showed what happened to the package after Amazon delivered it.

— Officers investigated a burglary alarm at the New Castle School of Trades on March 11. They spoke with a representative from the school who said it was an accidental activation.

— An officer was requested at the East Liverpool City Hospital for the removal of a female from the ER lobby on March 11. After being told she needed to get her things and leave, the female went outside to sit on a bench.

— A female called the department on March 11 regarding her ex who she has a protection order to report that he had the utilities shut off to the residence they shared prior to their separation.

— An officer searched an area of state Route for a vehicle reported by the Columbiana County Drug Task Force to be coming into East Liverpool on March 11.

— An officer spoke with a female at the Broadway Wharf who was having medical problems on March 11 and wanted to speak with an officer. The female said she just broke up with her boyfriend and was having suicidal thoughts and said yes when the officer asked if she wanted to talk to a counselor or go to the hospital. The woman was transported to East Liverpool City Hospital.

Leetonia

— An officer responded to an alarm drop at 3:28 p.m. March 21 at Leetonia Public Library.

— Mary Crank, of North Lima, was cited at 10:05 a.m. March 24 for fictitious plates, after a routine traffic stop from State and Lisbon to Columbia streets. An officer had observed her not signaling before turning and initiated the stop. Upon running the plate, which returned to a blue Dodge rather than the vehicle it was currently on, Crank admitted that the plate had been transferred to the vehicle six years ago; however, she was informed it had never been “transferred” as it was associated with the blue Dodge. The vehicle was ultimately towed and Crank cited.

Liverpool Township

— Brandon Barton, age and address not provided, was issued a citation and court date for expired tags during a March 8 traffic stop on Lisbon Street.

— Kayla Roberts, age and address not provided, was issued a citation for speed of 73 mph in a 55 mph zone during a March 9 traffic stop on state Route 7.

— Michelle Walker, age and address not provided, was issued a citation for assured clear distance and mandatory court date after she hit another car causing a three-car accident on March 14 on state Route 7.

— Ashley Martin, age and address not provided, was issued a citation and court date for expired plates during a March 15 traffic stop on Parkway Avenue.

— Autumn Growe, age and address not provided, was issued citations for having little/no plate light and expired plates during a March 16 traffic stop on state Route 7.

— James Platz was charged with theft and a warrant was issued for his arrest on March 11 after allegedly concealing a beer and leaving Walmart without paying for it.

— A driver was issued a verbal warning for no visible registration during a March 11 traffic stop on Calcutta Smith Ferry Road. During the stop the officer was able to see the vehicle did have the registration but was too dirty to read.

St. Clair Township

— Officers were sent to Echo Dell Trailer Park on March 11 in response to a male making statements about harming himself. The male told officers he never made those comments and was trying to sleep for work the next morning. The female who made the call reporting his comments and he were apparently arguing at the time.

— A driver was released with a warning for no taillights following a March 11 traffic stop on St. Clair Avenue.

— Officers investigating an alarm at a Calcutta Smith Ferry Road location on March 11 found the location to be secure.

— Mason Yoho was issued a citation for an expired plate during a March 11 traffic stop on Calcutta Smith Ferry Road.

— Officers searched the area of Dresden Avenue on March 11 for a reported reckless driver.

— A driver was issued a verbal warning a loud exhaust during a March 11 traffic stop on state Route 170.

— Officers met the Calcutta Volunteer Fire Department at the Giant Eagle recycling center for a dumping of butane tanks behind the dumpster. CVFD collected an estimated 100 to 125 bottles to dispose of properly. Officers are trying to identify a suspect for the illegal dumping.

— Justin Steele was issued citations and a mandatory court date for expired tags and driving under suspension and a warning for license plate lights during a March 11 traffic stop on Calcutta Smith Ferry Road. The vehicle Steele was driving was inventoried and towed by Calcutta Towing.

Salem

— Officers responded to the 1300 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 10:44 p.m. Tuesday for suspicious activity. The caller advised someone had knocked on their door multiple times. Officers did not observe anyone in the area. The caller was advised to keep their doors locked.
