Salem
— The school resource officer was advised of a fight after school in the area of East Sixth Street and Hawley Avenue at 2:52 p.m. Tuesday. Officers located the juveniles involved and witnesses of the fight and were advised that one juvenile had brandished a knife at one of the others after the fight was over. While conducting the investigation and speaking with witnesses the knife was located and the juvenile, whose name was not listed, was taken into custody charged with assault and aggravated menacing and transported to the Louis Tobin Attention Center.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday about receiving an unknown person’s mail and being concerned that they were using their address for welfare benefits. They advised that they had lived at their residence for 15 years and did not know why they were getting that person’s mail, and that they had already contacted the post office and welfare office but wanted a report on file.
— Officers responded to the area of West State Street at 2:21 a.m. Thursday for a reported suspicious vehicle. The caller advised that a vehicle was circling the storage units and shutting its lights off. Officers spoke with the person in question who advised that he was getting stuff out of his storage unit and waiting for a valid driver.
— Officers responded to the area of Waterworth Memorial Park at 10:57 p.m. Wednesday for a report of suspicious people in the park after hours. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate anyone.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of West Pershing Street at 10:04 p.m. Wednesday for a speak with officer report. The caller advised that she had been followed by a suspicious vehicle from work for the past several days, and that it drives up and down the road when she is home. Officers advised her that they would keep an extra watch in the area and would respond to the area the following day when she gets off work.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of Howard Avenue at 9:56 p.m. Wednesday for a wellness check. The caller advised that she had not heard from her daughter all day, and that her ex-boyfriend was over. Officers were unable to speak with the daughter.
— Officers responded to the 600 block of Washington Avenue at 8:56 p.m. Wednesday for a wellness check. Officers spoke with the person in question who advised that everything was fine.
— Officers spoke with a person at the police department at 4:18 p.m. Wednesday regarding a child custody issue. She advised that the child was refusing to go with the father. The child ultimately stayed with the mother.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of Vine Avenue at 3:11 p.m. Wednesday for a wellness check. The caller advised that her brother left a doctor’s appointment and was not in a good mental state. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the man, and further investigation found that the brother lived outside of city limits. The caller was advised of the proper agency to contact if they could not locate him.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of East Fourth Street at 1:56 p.m. Wednesday to speak with a woman about her daughter being assaulted. Officers spoke with the daughter and discovered that no assault had taken place, and the caller was observed to be confused and experiencing a possible medical emergency. The fire department and EMT responded to assess the caller, and she was transported to an appropriate medical facility for further evaluation.
— Officers responded to the 800 block of West State Street at 1:44 p.m. Wednesday for a reported break in that occurred at a business sometime overnight. Property was stolen from inside the business, and officers gathered information, and a suspect was identified. The case was turned over to a detective, and the suspect, whose name was not listed, was taken into custody several hours later.
— Officers responded to the 2800 block of East State Street at 1:25 p.m. Wednesday for a report of an unknown issue. The caller advised that he had been trespassed from a grocery store for an unknown reason. Officers spoke with the manager and were advised that the caller was causing issues inside the store and was asked to leave. The caller was waiting on a ride and was advised he could remain on the property outside until his ride got there, but not to return to the property.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of West School Street at 12:43 p.m. Wednesday for a reported dispute. Officers found that there was a language barrier and after obtaining assistance from an interpreter learned that the man and woman had gotten into a dispute over custody of their children. Both parties were advised to seek an attorney regarding the custody and the female half advised she was waiting for a ride to leave the residence. Officers advised both to remain civil until the woman was picked up.
— Officers responded to the 2500 block of Bentley Drive at 11:37 a.m. Wednesday for a report of drug paraphernalia located at a local nursing home. A plastic bag of possible marijuana was confiscated from a resident by an employee and was transported to the police department for proper disposal.
— Officers responded to the 800 block of Newgarden Avenue at 10:37 a.m. Wednesday for a reported verbal dispute. Officers spoke with a man who advised that his girlfriend had just left the residence and was screaming due to them breaking up and that nothing physical took place and the matter was verbal only.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of Washington Avenue at 10 a.m. Wednesday for a report of telecommunications harassment. The caller advised that she had been receiving telephone calls and text messages from a person who has pending criminal charges against her. Information was recorded and the matter is under investigation.
— Officers responded to the 1800 block of East State Street at 9:49 a.m. Wednesday for a wellness check. The caller advised that while they were in the drive-thru line at a local restaurant a woman was seen falling asleep behind the wheel. Officers spoke with the woman, who advised that she works midnight shift hours and was just tired. Officers didn’t observe any signs of impairment, and the woman was advised to driver safely.
— Officers responded to the area of Homewood Avenue and Home Circle at 9:09 a.m. Wednesday for a reported dog at large. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the dog.
— Officers responded to the 1200 block of Buckeye Avenue at 8:42 a.m. Wednesday for a reported suspicious man. The caller advised that a man was walking near a school dressed in all black with their face covered and one arm inside a jacket. Officers spoke with the man, who became irate when asked for identification, but was eventually identified and sent on his way. He was also advised to stay off school property as requested by the school administration.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of East Sixth Street at 8:18 p.m. Tuesday for a reported verbal altercation. Officers spoke with the male half at the residence and wanted the female half who was driving the vehicle to leave his property. The woman advised that she was leaving and was just dropping off her boyfriend who lives at the residence and did so without issue.
— Officers responded to the area of South Union Avenue at 7:23 p.m. Tuesday for a report of two dogs at large. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the dogs but did identify and confirm the owner. Officers spoke with the owner, Vincent Rosati, Salem, about the ongoing issues with the dogs getting loose and issued a citation for dog at large.
Sheriff’s Office
— A resident of Salem Grange Road, Salem Township reported at 11:56 p.m. Tuesday that a vehicle pulled into the Franklin Square Cemetery on Salem Grange Road and turned off their headlights. A deputy responded and spoke with the driver of the vehicle, of Salem, and his female passenger, of Canton, and they advised they were leaving the property.
— A deputy was dispatched at 11:06 p.m. Tuesday to Twin Springs Golf Course, state Route 172, Hanover Township, for two explosions on the property and flames seen from behind the club house. The deputy and Hanover Township Fire personnel spoke with the owner, who said it was a controlled burn and he was staying with the fire.
St. Clair Township
— An officer searched for a person reported to be tampering with an ankle monitor at a state Route 170 residence on Feb. 19
— An officer found everything to be secure at Beaver Local Schools after investigating an alarm on Feb. 19.
— A driver was given a warning for no license plate during a Feb 19 traffic stop on Y & O Road.
— An officer spoke with two truck drivers parking in the private parking lot at DJs who were blocking the view of oncoming traffic on St. Clair Avenue on Feb. 19. The owner of the truck who was pulled up too far moved the truck.
— An officer stopped and checked on a vehicle sitting on the side of state Route 170 with hazard lights on on Feb. 19. The driver told the officer that the front driver side tire almost fell off and a tow truck was on the way.
Liverpool Township
— Justin Savage, age and address not provided, was issued a citation and court date for speed of 66 mph in a 55-mph zone during a Feb. 18 traffic stop on state Route 7.
— James Conrad, age and address not provided, was transported to East Liverpool hospital for a head injury sustained in a Feb. 20 crash on Parkway Avenue. An officer met him at the hospital and issued him citations and a court date for driving under suspension, failure to control, and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
— Dawson Mayfield, age and address not provided, was issued a citation and court date for speed of 39 mph in a 25-mph zone during a Feb. 23 traffic stop on Boring Lane.
— Jonathon Easterly, age and address not provided, was taken into custody for three outstanding warrants, one for felony domestic violence after officers from Liverpool Township responded to a domestic call on Feb. 24 at a Wood Alley residence. The responding officer requested backup from East Liverpool and St. Clair police departments.
— Cathy Keenan, age and address not provided, was issued traffic citations for speed and expired plates during a Feb. 24 traffic stop on state Route 7.
— Dylan Neely, age and address not provided, was issued citations and a court date for a non-working headlight, and a suspended license and issued a warning for no license plate light during a Feb. 27 traffic stop on state Route 7.
Leetonia
— Representatives from OmniFiber received warnings at 3:14 p.m. March 1 about going door-to-door in the area of Sleepy Hollow, soliciting potential services to residents without a permit. An officer advised them on the proper procedure to meet the village’s solicitation ordinance.
— Mary Kiehl, no address listed, was cited at 8:44 p.m. March 2 in the area of state Route 344 and Main Street with driving under suspension and had her vehicle impounded, after passenger Cody Hostetler admitted possessing “ice,” a pipe and a knife in the vehicle as well as his backpack resting on the passenger side floorboard contained drug paraphernalia. He was subsequently arrested for the drug paraphernalia and will be further charged pending BCI results on the suspected crystal meth.
— A male caller reported at 8:40 a.m. Feb. 28 that his vehicle was struck while his wife was working at the post office the day before.
— Eric Trenkelbach was cited at 4:16 p.m. Feb. 27 near Main and High streets for driving under suspension and failure to yield after a vehicle crash at the American Legion.
East Liverpool
— Officers searched the East End area for on Feb. 19 for two vehicles reported to be driving on Pennsylvania Avenue at a high rate of speed.
— A male who came into the police station on Feb. 19 to file a fraud report was transferred to St. Clair Police Department since the incident happened in their jurisdiction.
— A disoriented female who admitted to smoking methamphetamine after officers located her running out of the roads near Valley View Street with her legs, arms and face cut from running from the woods was transported to East Liverpool hospital on Feb. 19.
— Officers found no one to be home at a St. Clair Avenue residence where a disturbance was reported to be happening on Feb. 19.
— Officers searched the apartments on North Shadylane and a wooded area behind the apartments on Feb. 19 for abandoned 911 calls that kept pinging to that location.
— Officers advised a grandfather on Feb. 19 how to go through the eviction process after he called police and said he grandson who was possibly intoxicated was tearing his Huston Street house apart.
