Sheriff’s Office
— A woman on Camp Boulevard, Hanover Township reported at 9:13 p.m. Saturday a neighbor’s vehicle was on her property and she was concerned the vehicle would roll down the hillside and into her residence. Upon arrival with Baker’s Towing, deputies learned the vehicle was parked in the driveway in park and rolled backwards down the driveway onto the woman’s property. Deputies stood by until Baker’s Towing removed the vehicle that was stuck on a hillside.
— A man on Sell Road, Center Township reported at 9:09 p.m. Saturday that his girlfriend’s son came to the residence and smashed out windows on a vehicle parked in the driveway, witnessed by another Center Township resident. The man said the girlfriend’s son left walking on foot and deputies were not needed.
— A man on Carter Road, Unity Township reported at 7:40 p.m. Saturday that his three cell phones, MacBook and multiple electronic devices had been hacked into.
–An alarm was reported at 7:47 a.m. Saturday at building H of the Rogers Sale, state Route 154. The building was checked and found secure.
— A Medina woman called at 7:05 p.m. Friday to request a deputy meet her at the residence of her aunt on Pleasant View Drive, Center Township, so she could pick up her 5-year-old son. Deputies stood by while she got her son, there were no issues.
— A woman on Orchard Knoll Drive, Hanover Township reported at 6:41 p.m. Friday that she received a credit card, debit card and checkbook from a bank her in maiden name in the mail.
— A woman on Bouquet Street, Middleton Township reported at 2:43 p.m. Friday that a man came to her residence, identified himself as being with Ohio Edison and needed to see her bill. She said she called Ohio Edison and they said he doesn’t work for them directly and she doesn’t need to show him her bill.
— A woman on Fife Coal Road, Yellow Creek Township, reported at 2:03 p.m. Friday that her 14-year-old son was being harassed on social media by unknown persons. She was advised to block the users.
— A woman on Carter Road, Unity Township reported at 12:04 p.m. Friday that her son-in-law, who lives on the same property but in a different residence, has been harassing her through text message. She was advised how to obtain a protection order. A deputy spoke with the son-in-law, who contacted the sheriff’s officer about the woman telling him he has to leave the residence and property. He was advised to contact an attorney.
— Deputies were dispatched at 3:28 a.m. Friday to Crestview Road, Fairfield Township for a report of dogs chasing cars in the roadway. Deputies checked the area, but did not find any dogs in the road or in the nearby yards.
— A man on Knox School Road, Knox Township reported at 9:44 p.m. Thursday that there was a burglary in progress at his residence. He reported when he arrived home, he heard someone talking and say his name, then it looked like a person was inside the residence. A deputy checked inside the residence, but had no contact with anyone inside, with no forced entry observed on any doors or windows. A window in a bedroom was open and the man said the window should have been closed and locked.
Salem
— Officers responded to the 2500 block of Bentley Drive at 4:36 p.m. Sunday to speak with an irate person. Officers spoke with the man in question who apologized and said that he was just upset about a staff member interrupting a conversation he was having with another staff member.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Perry Street at 4:08 p.m. Sunday for a report of a man entering an unoccupied house. Officers located the man leaving the house and after confirming with the property owner and realtor to confirm that he did not have permission to be there the man, whose name was not listed, was taken into custody charged with criminal trespass and transported to the Columbiana County Jail.
— Officers on patrol in the 1900 block of East Third Street at 1:17 p.m. Sunday for a report of a vehicle driving at an excessive speed. Officers conducted a traffic stop and found the driver to be confused and potentially experiencing a medical emergency. First responders were contacted to speak with the man, and a family member was notified and eventually transported to the Salem Regional Medical Center.
— Officers responded to the 800 block of Summit Street at 11:40 p.m. Saturday for a report of a sparking transformer. The fire department also responded, and both stood by until Ohio Edison arrived to take over the scene.
— Officers responded to the area of state Route 14 and Goshen Road at 8:44 p.m. Saturday to assist the Perry Township Police Department with a traffic stop. K-9 Fero was deployed and alerted to the presence of narcotic odor coming from the vehicle.
— Officers responded to Courtyard Square at 8:13 p.m. Saturday for a reported intoxicated person. Officers spoke with the woman in question who was found to be intoxicated but not a harm to herself. She went home.
— Officers spoke with a juvenile and their parent at 7:39 p.m. Saturday who advised an adult man had threatened them in a group chat on Snapchat. A copy of the message was provided to the officer and the man, Blade Thompson, 18, Salem, was later located and taken into custody. He was transported to the police department for booking and transported to the Columbiana County Jail charged with menacing.
— Officers responded to the 700 block of Jennings Avenue at 5:46 p.m. Saturday for a report of threats. The caller advised that while he was out walking to young males walked up to him and threatened to hurt him and ran away when he said he was going to call the police. The caller gave a description of the men, whom officers were familiar with, and officers attempted contact at their residence, but nobody answered the door.
— Officers responded to the area of Jennings Avenue and West Eighth Street at 4:42 p.m. for a reported speeding vehicle. Officers checked the area and located a vehicle matching the description at a residence and attempted contact, but nobody answered the door.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 4:45 p.m. Saturday for a reported road rage incident. Officers found that two people were arguing due to road rage and that a bystander had attempted to intervene and been threatened by one of the men. Officers spoke with all three and after explaining that all could face criminal charges, none of the involved parties wanted to press charges and separated.
— Officers spoke to a person by phone at 2:05 p.m. Saturday for a reported suspicious person. Further investigation found that the activity was occurring outside city limits, and the caller was advised of the proper agency to contact.
— Officers responded to the 2500 block of Lexington Avenue at 11:38 a.m. Saturday for a reported domestic dispute. The caller advised that yelling was heard coming from another apartment. Officers spoke with the residents of the apartment who advised that they had a verbal altercation but did not report any physical violence. They were advised to stop yelling.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 10:19 a.m. Saturday for a report of load fraud. The caller was notified that multiple loans had been taken out in their name in a short period of time. The caller advised that the loan company requested a report be filed.
— Officers responded to the area of Southeast Boulevard at 5:03 a.m. Saturday for reported woman walking in the roadway. Officers spoke with the woman who advised that she had gotten lost. She was given a ride back to her residence on Monroe Avenue.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of Ash Street at 3:57 a.m. Saturday for a reported person to be removed. The caller advised that a person was at her residence and wanted him to leave. However, the person in question was extremely intoxicated and couldn’t drive. Officers provided the man with a ride to his residence to prevent any further issues.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of South Broadway Avenue at 11:52 p.m. Friday to follow up on another matter and learned that a patron had an active warrant out of the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office. Officers took the man, Robert Wiseman, 40, Mogadore, into custody and transported him to the Columbiana County Jail.
— Officers responded to the 1200 block of Cleveland Street at 10:08 p.m. Friday for a report of suspicious activity. The caller advised that someone was knocking on the window of their residence and came onto the porch. Officers checked the exterior of the residence, but did not locate anyone, and officers advised the caller that there would be an extra watch in the area.
— Officers spoke to someone at the police department at 8:46 p.m. Friday for a report of a possible scam. The caller advised that he bought a vintage muscle care online for $32,000 from a dealership in Washington that was supposed to have been delivered that day but had not, and that his calls to the salesman were not connecting. Later in the shift the man called and advised he’d spoken to the local police department from the community the dealership allegedly resided in and that it had been confirmed as a scam business being run out of Sacramento, California. The caller was provided a report number and advised that he would contact his bank the next day about the money.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of Woodland Avenue at 8:42 p.m. Friday to speak with a victim of an assault which occurred in the 300 block of Rose Avenue at 8:42 p.m. Friday. The juvenile victim advised that another juvenile had punched him in the face multiple times. Officers watched a video of the event and another male juvenile, whose name was not listed, was taken into custody for assault and transported to the Louis Tobin Attention Center.
— Officers responded to the 700 block of West State Street at 6:15 p.m. Friday for a reported suspicious person. The caller advised that two younger men had approached her and asked for money. Officers located them across the street at a business and advised them of the complaint.
— Officers responded to the 900 block of East State Street at 5:38 p.m. Friday for a reported drive off. The caller advised that a vehicle pumped $20 worth of gas and drove off. No license plate was given, and officers collected the information.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of Garfield Drive at 4:54 p.m. Friday to assist the Goshen Police District. Officers were canceled before they arrived.
— Officers responded to the 2100 block of Merle Road at 4:31 p.m. Friday for a reported dirt bike on the roadway. Officers located the person in question and advised them to keep the bike off the roadway.
— Officers responded to 300 block of Newgarden Avenue at 4:11 p.m. Friday for a reported burglary that occurred earlier in the day. The caller advised officers of a possible suspect, but there were no cameras in the area. The incident is pending.
— Officers spoke to a man at the police department at 2:54 p.m. Friday who wanted to trespass two people from a property in the 600 block of East Pershing Street. Officers collected information on the people, and they were contacted and advised that they were trespassed from the property.
— Officers responded to the 200 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 12:44 p.m. Friday for a wellness check. The caller advised a woman was talking to a telephone pole and acting very abnormally. Officers assessed the woman, who was found to be under the influence of possible narcotic use. The fire department and EMT responded and the woman was transported to an appropriate medical facility for further evaluation.
— Officers spoke to a person by phone regarding telecommunications harassment from their ex at 12:16 p.m. Friday. The caller advised that their ex has called them more than 100 times, prompting them to change their number. The caller advised that the person then began contacting their family members to attempt to get their new number, and that they wanted a report on file.
–Officers responded with the fire department to the 2400 block of East State Street at 10:11 a.m. Friday for a reported vehicle versus pedestrian crash. The vehicle involved spilled into a parking lot and struck a woman, and the woman was provided medical care on scene and transported for further evaluation. The driver advised that their vision was obstructed by sunlight while pulling into the business.
