Sheriff’s Office
— A deputy returned a call at 5:44 p.m. Thursday to a person in Yellow Creek Township regarding neighbor troubles. They were advised how to proceed.
— A report regarding menacing was taken at the sheriff’s office at 5:06 p.m. Thursday regarding a state Route 45 property in Elkrun Township. The person was advised how to proceed.
— A suspicious person and vehicle were reported at 6:56 a.m. Wednesday on Crestview Road, Fairfield Township where a deputy responded and made contact with the driver of the vehicle. The person was going to a relative’s residence, but was not able to get there until another person left. The driver was only waiting until that time, then planned to leave. The driver had no warrants and was told they were not permitted to be on the property. They left and then the deputy advised the caller what happened.
— A welfare check was requested at 11:17 p.m. Monday at a property on Teegarden Road, Hanover Township. The person was contacted and reported being fine.
— A deputy at 7:57 p.m. Monday returned a call regarding a civil matter at a Center Township property on Grant Street, leaving a voicemail both times, but not receiving a call back.
Salem
— Officers on patrol in the 800 block of West State Street at 2:31 a.m. Friday for a reported public assist. The caller advised that they needed a ride back home, and he was transported back to the police department so a ride could be arranged for him. Once at the department, the man was able to call someone for a ride.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of South Broadway Avenue at 12:21 a.m. Friday for a reported irate person. The caller advised that the person in question was trying to fight everyone. Officers spoke with the person in question who advised they were just trying to find their keys and phone. The items were located outside the city at her friend’s residence, and the person was transported to the residence by a Perry Township officer.
— Officers on patrol in the 2800 block of East State Street at 11:28 p.m. Thursday located a vehicle registered to a woman with an active warrant. Officers spoke with the occupants of the vehicle but did not locate the wanted person.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 7:56 p.m. Thursday to check for a reported water line break. No water line break was located.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 7:33 p.m. Thursday for a reported assault. They advised that a man had struck them in the face multiple times at a nearby business. The person had no visible injuries and did not need medical attention. He filled out a statement form. Officers then spoke with the man in question who denied the allegation and had no visible markings on his hand. He also filled out a statement form, and the matter is under investigation.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Perry Street at 6:23 p.m. Thursday for a wellness check which turned into a medical call. The caller requested officers speak with her ex-husband who stated that he was dying. Officers learned that the man needed an oxygen mask and was suffering from severe back pain. The fire department and EMT responded to tend to the man, and he was transported by EMT.
— Officers responded to the 2100 block of Monroe Street at 12:05 p.m. Thursday for a wellness check. Officers spoke with the woman in question who advised that they weren’t feeling well and their chest hurt. They were transported to the hospital by EMT.
— Officers located a man who left a painting in the lobby of the police department and left the previous day in the 400 block of East Pershing Street at 11:41 a.m. Thursday. Officers spoke with the man, who admitted to dropping off the picture, but couldn’t give a reason why he had done so. He asked if he could have it back, and officers advised him to just go to the station and ask for it.
— Officers responded to the 1800 block of Cleveland Street at 10:17 a.m. Thursday for a wellness check. Officers confirmed that the person in question was okay.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 6:32 Thursday regarding potential harassment. The caller advised that they had received multiple voicemails from an unknown man which included explicit comments. The woman requested officers advised the man not to contact her again. The man was advised to cease any contact with the woman and that they could face charges if they failed to do so.
St. Clair Township
— An officer conducted a follow up investigation on Feb. 10 on an orange Jeep for a previous Walmart theft that arrived to pick up a current theft subject.
— Cade Orourke was issued a citation for speed of54 mph in a 25-mph zone and a warning for a brake/turn signal/taillight violation following a Feb. 10 traffic stop on state Route 170.
— An officer filed a report for a Feb. 10 private property crash at Giant Eagle.
— Ginger Crum, 47, address not provided, was charged with theft and released with a summons for failing to pay for $344.28 worth of items at Walmart on Feb. 10.
— Officers spoke with a female at a Summit Drive residence who called on Feb. 10 to report a white truck parked in front of her apartment and told her the truck was a utility truck and was supposed to be there.
— Officer conducted an investigation at Alpha Care on Feb. 10 for someone possibly inside the building after an employee called and said that she heard laughing from inside the locked building. Officers found the noise to be coming from a radio that had been left on.
— Daniel Johnson, 49, address not provided, was placed in custody and transported to the East Liverpool Police Department after he refused to be taken to the hospital when officers responded to a complaint of him driving recklessly and driving his truck over a hill on Bell School Road on Feb. 11. Due to his condition with him nearly falling over, officers determined it was not safe to do field sobriety testing. Johnson, who had admitted drinking to the officers, refused to provide a breath sample and according to officers, was unable to understand directions during a 20-minute observation. He was transported to the police department for booking and then to the Columbiana County Jail.
Liverpool Township
— Heather Quinn, (age and address not provided) was issue citations and a court date for no seat belt and failure to control her vehicle after officers responded to a single vehicle crash on state Route 267 on Feb. 8.
— Gregory Weaver, 68, (address not provided) was taken into custody for an outstanding warrant and transported to the Columbiana County Jail on Feb. 13. Weaver was placed into custody while leaving a 7th Avenue residence.
— Mark Frederick (age and address not provided) was issued a citation and court date for speed of 72 mph in a 55-mph following a Feb. 14 traffic stop on state Route 7.
— Scott Cooper Jr., 41, (address not provided) was issued a citation for driving with no license (sixth offence and taking to the Columbiana County Jail for an outstanding county warrant following a Feb. 15 traffic for no turn signal on Lisbon Street. The vehicle was towed by First Class Towing.
— After an officer informed Scott Cooper Sr., (age and address not provided) that his son Scott Cooper Jr. had just been arrested while driving Cooper Sr.’s, vehicle and the vehicle being towed the officer issued a citation and court date to Cooper Sr., for wrongful entrustment for letting a person drive his vehicle knowing the person does not have a valid driver’s license. The officer told Cooper Sr., that Cooper Jr., was under suspension and Cooper Sr. said he knew and he knew the warrant was for no license and he also knew that Cooper Jr., has 13 open suspensions. The officer also told him the vehicle which was towed can only be released to him since he is the registered owner.
— Charles McLaughlin (age and address not provided) was issued a citation for speed of 71 mph in a 55-mph zone following a Feb. 16 traffic stop on state Route 7.
— Ja’von Santiago was issued a citation for speed of 90 mph in a 55-mph zone following a Feb. 16 traffic stop on state Route 7.
Wellsville
–Officers transported a juvenile female on Feb. 10 to stay with her grandmother after filing a report with CPS per the CPS worker’s advice. Police were called to McDonald’s after the juvenile arrived and clung to pole which her mother was trying to pull her off while the juvenile screamed her mother had been trying to suffocate her. An officer who examined the juvenile’s neck saw black marks, but the juvenile said it was a skin condition. Officers took statements from the McDonald’s employees who witnessed the incident.
— A male came to the police station on Feb. 11 to report that his Chester Avenue residence had been broken into on Jan. 13 and that the items taken include a coin collection valued at $12,000-$15,000, an air impact and a chainsaw. He told officers he believes his neighbor across the street may have video. There is a pending investigation.
— Officers transported a juvenile female from her Independence Square residence to a friend’s house to stay for the night after her grandmother accused her of taking her medicine and then reported to police that she sprayed a liquid in her face. The juvenile said she had not taken the grandmother’s medication and she told her that and her grandmother struck her in the knee with a makeup box which is when she sprayed her with micellar water. The grandmother said she wanted the juvenile out of the home. Officers asked the juvenile if she had taken the pills and she said no. After escorting the juvenile to her friends, due to multiple calls to the residence involving juveniles, officers filed a report with CPS.
