Sheriff Reports
— A deputy responded at 1:13 p.m. Wednesday to the American Legion, Parkway Avenue, East Liverpool and assisted a person having a medical emergency, standing by until EMS arrived. EMS arrived and took over the scene, transporting the person to a hospital.
— Deputies were dispatched at 6:08 a.m. Tuesday to a domestic violence situation on Walnut Street, Rogers, where the victim reported being assaulted by two people. Both Arrianna E. Gutierrez, 21, Walnut Street, Rogers, and Lance James Bishop, 19, Walnut Street, Rogers, were each charged with domestic violence and taken to the Columbiana County jail. Both appeared in county Municipal Court Wednesday and will face future pretrials.
— A deputy at 5:53 p.m. Monday conducted a welfare check at a residence on Butcher Road, Leetonia and made contact with the person involved. The person advised they were ok.
— A deputy was dispatched at 3:41 p.m. Sunday to Gorby’s in Negley regarding an ATV complaint, checked the area, but made no contact with any vehicles.
— Deputies responded at 8:15 p.m. Saturday to Italo’s in Lisbon, state Route 45, regarding a suspicious vehicle. Deputies made contact with the driver and learned he works at Italo’s and accidentally fell asleep in his truck. He advised he would be leaving soon.
— A woman on Georgetown Road, Butler Township reported at 5:14 p.m. Saturday that she confronted two trespassers on her property and they took off running.
— A man on Bell Road, Elkrun Township reported at 4:46 p.m. Saturday that another man from Oak Street, Center Township, continuously keeps driving past his residence filming, taking pictures, beeping the horn and revving the vehicle’s engine. He said this has been going on almost on a daily basis for months now.
— A deputy was dispatched at 11:04 p.m. Friday to Homeworth Road, Knox Township for a 911 text to dispatch that was blank. Contact was made with the homeowner, who said everything was fine.
— Neighbor troubles were reported at 4:47 p.m. Friday on County Airport Road, Madison Township. A deputy returned the call and advised the person how to proceed.
— A deputy was dispatched at 3:35 p.m. Friday to Meadow Wood Drive, Butler Township, for a juvenile-related report. The juvenile was transported to a hospital in Mahoning County by Damascus EMS.
— A man on Old state Route 45, Madison Township, called at 9:25 p.m. Thursday to request removal of a Lisbon woman who was intoxicated on his property and refusing to leave. A deputy gave the woman a courtesy ride to her residence.
— A Boardman woman reported at 7:58 p.m. Thursday that her sister has a protection order filed on her out of Columbiana County Common Pleas Court and she needs to get her belongings from the residence in Fairfield Township. She was advised she needs a court order to get back onto the property with a deputy.
— A deputy responded at 11:29 p.m. Jan. 21 to Barnett’s Drive Thru, U.S. Route 62, Butler Township, for a person who was walking who slipped on the ice and accidentally stabbed himself in the chest with a knife that was in his pocket. Goshen Township Police assisted and Damascus EMS transported the victim to a hospital in Portage County.
— An alarm was reported at 10:28 p.m. Wednesday at the Beverage Barn, state Route 45, Center Township. A deputy found the north door of the building open, with no signs of forced entry. The inside was checked with no one found and the door was secured.
— An open 911 line was reported at 6:51 p.m. Wednesday on Clarkson Road, Middleton Township. Deputies spoke with the homeowner, who said they were having issues with the landline phone.
— A deputy was dispatched at 9 p.m. Tuesday to Depot Road at Teegarden Road, Center Township, for a vehicle sitting in the roadway with no headlights on. The driver, state Route 45, Center Township, said his vehicle stalled out and would not start back up. The deputy provided traffic control until Baker’s Towing removed the vehicle from the road.
St. Clair
–Officers checked on a vehicle reportedin the middle of the roadway on Stagecoach Road on Jan. 19. The vehicle appeared to have slid off an icy driveway. Officers spoke to the owner who was able to get the vehicle back in the driveway.
–Officers checking on a vehicle reported to be off the road in the trees on Calcutta Smith Ferry Road on Jan. 19 found the vehicle had slid off the road and there were no injuries to occupants or damage to the vehicle. Officers called Calcutta Towing which assisted the driver back onto the road.
–Officers found the VA Clinic to be secure after responding to an alarm on Jan. 19.
–An officer searched the area of routes 11 and 267 for a reckless driver reported on Jan. 20.
–An officer was requested at Walmart on Jan. 21 by a manager who wanted to speak about an employee who was a no-call, no-show for work. The manager told the officer the employee said he was in jail on the day he did not report to work. The officer confirmed that.
–An officer searched for an area of state Route 170 near Duke Road on Jan. 21 for a deer that was reported to be in the roadway.
–An officer spoke with a Bloomfield Avenue resident on Jan. 22 who wanted to file a theft report for his work uniforms he put in a tote at the end of his driveway to be picked up and cleaned that were taken by someone. The resident said the uniforms were worth about $600-$700. The officer advised the resident to make arrangements for his work clothes to be picked up elsewhere and not put them out by the garbage at the end of the driveway. A report was filed.
–Officers checked Dresden Avenue on Jan. 22 after receiving an automatic crash alert but did not find anything.
–An officer attempted to contact the dog warden after attempting to contact the owner of two dogs tied up outside, visibly freezing with nonstop barking, at a Hill Road residence on Jan. 23. The officer left a note for the owner to call the police department.
–Officers spoke on Jan. 24 with a male at Sheetz who said he was concerned for his welfare, that he just didn’t feel right and feels people may be after him or watching him. The officers asked if he needed to talk to anyone and said no. His girlfriend was on her way to pick him up. Officers cleared after the girlfriend arrived and got him.
–A driver was given a warning for driving without lights during a Jan. 24 traffic stop on state Route 11.
–Officers found Dollar General to be secure after responding to a second alarm on Jan. 24. Officers waited for a possible keyholder, but none showed up.
–Officers found a residential alarm to be set off by accident when checking a Sprucevale Road residence on Jan. 24.
–An officer responded to a report of suspicious activity on Jan. 25 spoke to a female at a Summit Drive Apartment who said that someone was standing by her vehicle. The officer checked the area and then told the resident that there was no one by her car or in the area, but they would do extra checks.
Perry Township
— Officers provided traffic control while a vehicle was removed from the median of the U.S. Route 62 four-lane at 11:14 a.m. Monday.
— Officers responded to the U.S. Route 62 bypass for a third-party report to the Ohio Highway State Patrol of a vehicle off the roadway. Officers searched the area and observed no vehicles along the roadway.
— Officers responded to the 1300 block of West State Street at 4:53 p.m. Friday for a wellness check. The caller advised that a woman she knew had mase a concerning post on social media. Officers spoke with the woman in question who advised that she was venting and didn’t mean anything by the post.
— Officers spoke to a person at the police department at 12:35 p.m. Thursday regarding a scam. The caller advised that they had received text messages and emails about a loan they didn’t apply for, and when they contacted the loan company, they refused to provide him with any information. The caller was advised to check his credit report and bank account for anything suspicious.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of Taylor Avenue at 5:57 a.m. Jan. 22 for a report of a possible death. EMT and the fire department responded and confirmed there were no signs of life, and hospice and the Columbiana County coroner were contacted.
— Officers responded to the 1700 block of Hearthside Drive at 3:52 p.m. Jan. 21 for a reported scam. The caller’s wife received a scam text about a package which they did not order, and a package was delivered by a drone. There were no suspicious bank activity nor unauthorized charges. A report will be on file.
— Officers responded to the 1100 block of Prospect Street at 12:05 p.m. Jan. 21 to check for a wanted person. Officers spoke with the person in question’s mother, who advised that they were not present at the time.
— Officers responded to the 2100 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 8:27 a.m. Jan. 21 for a reported hit and skip. Officers found that an unknown vehicle had driven through the yard of a residence and the fence. Officers found a piece of a front bumper lying beside a tree in the yard, and pictures were taken of the damage.
— Officers responded to the 500 block of Bethel Drive at 8:33 p.m. Jan. 20 for a report of telephone harassment. The caller advised that their 15-year-old son received a text message from an unknown number containing a video of a nude adult man. Officers collected all necessary information and advised the juvenile to block the number and report any further incidents.
— Officers spoke with a person at the police department at 12:20 p.m. Jan. 20 for a report of fraud. The caller advised that someone had changed one of their checks to a higher amount, and that it was clearly not her handwriting.
Salem
–Omar Witherspoon, Salem, was cited for failure to yield after his vehicle attempted to pull out of a private drive and struck a vehicle driven eastbound on Pennsylvania Avenue near Allen Road by Susan Owen, Salem, at 6 a.m. Tuesday. No injuries were reported.
–Officers responded to the 700 block of Newgarden Avenue at 12:18 a.m. Tuesday to speak with a person about retrieving their property from another person. Officers advised the person with the property that it needed to be returned in the next few days, and both parties agreed to this.
–Officers responded to the 600 block of Franklin Avenue at 10:03 p.m. Monday for a reported domestic dispute. Officers spoke with the female half, observing injuries which were documented with photos. Officers responded to the male half, Joshua Greene’s residence to speak with him, and he was taken into custody charged with domestic violence, and third-degree felony strangulation. Officers transported Greene back to the police department for processing, and photos of possible injuries to Greene were taken prior to being transported to the Columbiana County Jail.
–Officers responded to the 1200 block of Cedar Ridge Drive at 7:09 p.m. Monday for a reported parking complaint. The caller advised that a truck with a trailer was blocking multiple driveways. Officers observed the truck not to be blocking any driveways and that it was only there temporarily while the owner was clearing driveways with a skid loader.
–Officers responded to the railroad crossing on West Pershing Street at 6:04 p.m. Monday for a reported parking complaint. The caller advised that a vehicle was parked at the top of a hill and they were unable to see it. Officers spoke with the owner of the vehicle and advised them to move it.
–Officers responded to the 2300 block of East State Street at 5:32 p.m. Monday for a private property accident. The caller advised that he had hit a sign in the parking lot. Officers collected photos and gave the caller a copy of the report number.
–Officers responded to the area of North Lundy Avenue and East Fourth Street at 4:47 p.m. Monday for a reported parking violation. Officers spoke with the owner of the vehicle and advised them that the parking ban was still in effect, and vehicles could be towed if further plowing became necessary later in the evening. One of the vehicles was moved while officers were present, and the other drivers advised that they understood.
–Officers responded to the 700 block of South Lundy Avenue at 3:47 p.m. Monday for a reported dispute. Officers spoke with the parties involved and were advised that the dispute was verbal only, and everything checked okay.
–Officers responded to the 1800 block of East State Street at 3:28 p.m. Monday for a reported private property accident. The driver advised that while pulling into the business entrance he slid on snow and ice and struck the business entry sign.
–Officers responded to the 1900 block of East State Street at 11:34 a.m. Monday to assist with a combative patient. Officers were able to get them to calm down and lay back down in their bed to be treated.
–Officers responded to the 1100 block of East Sixth Street at 8:22 a.m. Monday for a reported water line break. Officers located the break and contacted the water department.
— Officers responded to the 300 block of West Eighth Street at 3:33 a.m. Monday for a reported barking dog complaint. The caller advised that a dog was on the front porch of a neighbor’s home barking as if it needed inside. Contact was made with the owner by phone who immediately responded to the house to get the dog back inside.
— Officers responded to the 700 block of Summit Street at 12:09 a.m. Sunday for a menacing report. The caller advised that they had received a call from an unknown person who stated they were going to shoot their house if they did not get paid.
— Officers responded to the 700 block of Prospect Street at 9:16 p.m. Sunday for a reported neighbor dispute regarding snow being pushed onto the caller’s property by a third party. Officers attempted to speak with the person next door and ask them to remedy the snow problem, but the parties involved do not get along, and no compromises could be made. Officers asked them to try to get along and advised them that due to the volume of snow that needed to be dealt with, no action would be taken that evening.
— Officers responded to the 400 block of Rose Avenue at 9:10 p.m. Sunday to assist animal control with a follow-up investigation. The dog owner was re-advised of the time limit for dogs to be outside during the snow emergency based on current weather conditions, and a warning was issued.
— Officers responded to the 100 block of West Eighth Street at 6:48 p.m. Sunday to assist the humane agent. The residents were advised to bring their dogs inside the residence due to the winter storm.
— Officers responded to the 2300 block of East State Street at 6:21 p.m. Sunday for a reported civil matter. The caller advised that the mother of his child refused to turn over their son in accordance with the custody agreement. The caller advised that the was an ongoing issue and wanted the matter documented. Information was collected on all parties involved, and the incident will be documented for reference in civil court.
— Officers assisted several stuck motorists in locations across the city Sunday, assisting them to free their vehicles and get back on their way.
— Officers responded to the 1100 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 4:03 p.m. Sunday for a wellness check. Officers were unable to make contact at the residence.
