Sheriff Reports

–A deputy at 4:28 p.m. Tuesday investigated a report of a suspicious man in the woods near the federal prison, FCI Elkton, waving down cars as they passed by. Contact was made with the man on the rear porch area of a residence on Scroggs Road, Lisbon and he was identified as Terry Lee Banks of Minnesota. Banks, 49, was taken into custody on a charge of criminal trespass and booked into the Columbiana County jail, with other potential charges pending. Banks is scheduled to appear in Columbiana County Municipal Court today and was released from jail after bond was posted.

— An alarm was reported on Hadley Road, Unity Township at 6:32 a.m. Sunday. A deputy checked the residence and found an open door, but during a further search, everything was found in good order. The homeowner arrived and the deputy spoke with them and told them to call if they had any issues or found anything missing.

— Deputies were dispatched at 6:40 p.m. Friday to Carbon Hill Road, Unity Township, for a domestic violence report. A refusal was signed.

— A woman on state Route 39, Washington Township, reported at 5:51 p.m. Friday that a woman from Brush Creek Township in Jefferson County trespassed on her property to give her horses hay. She said she is posting no trespassing signs around the property.

— Minerva Police dispatch, Stark County, advised at 10:48 p.m. Nov. 6 that they received a call for an awful foul smell in the air in the 26000 block of U.S. Route 30, West Township. A deputy checked the area and found the smell was coming from an area farm.

— A deputy was dispatched at 9:51 p.m. Nov. 6 to state Route 172, West Township for a domestic violence report.

— A deputy responded at 11:13 p.m. Nov. 5 to a Glasgow Road residence, Wayne Township, for a welfare check. The deputy made contact with the person in question and found everything in good order.
