— A deputy dispatched at 6:19 p.m. Oct. 30 checked the area of state Route 45 near Buckeye Road regarding a suspicious vehicle, but did not find the vehicle.
— A deputy responded at 7:10 p.m. Oct. 26 to Midwest Sandbags, Middleton Township, regarding menacing. The deputy spoke to the caller and advised them how to proceed.
Salem
–Officers responded to the 800 block of East Third Street at 5:35 a.m. Tuesday for a reported domestic in progress. Officers spoke with a woman who advised that she was sleeping and that nobody else was at the residence.
–Officers responded to the 900 block of West State Street at 3:03 a.m. Tuesday for a reported suspicious person. The caller advised that a person had asked them for a ride. Officers spoke with the person and asked them if they needed help getting anywhere or needed a phone which they denied.
–Officers responded to the 1000 block of Newgarden Avenue at 1:41 a.m. Tuesday to speak with a resident about a family member on behalf of another agency. Officers gathered the necessary information.
–Officers responded to the 900 block of East State Street at 9:11 p.m. Monday for a reported suspicious vehicle. The caller advised that two vehicles had shut their lights off, and an occupant from one got into the other. Officers spoke with them, and they advised they were just talking.
–Officers responded to the 2800 block of East State Street at 7:33 p.m. Monday for a report of theft. The caller advised that a woman was bagging multiple food items and did not pay. The woman, Mary Hamilton, 35, Lisbon, was taken into custody and transported to the police department charged with theft, and their driver, William Wildman, 51, Salem, who was in the parking lot was found to have an active warrant for his arrest and was taken into custody and transported to the Columbiana County Jail.
–Officers responded to the 600 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 6:37 p.m. Monday for a reported juvenile complaint. The caller advised that their younger brother was threatening people in the house. Officers spoke with the juvenile, who was upset about their current living situation. The mother agreed to let the juvenile leave for the residence for the evening and stay with a family member.
–Officers responded to the area of North Lincoln Avenue and East Tenth Street at 6:03 p.m. Monday to assist Perry Township Officers. The caller advised that a person was standing in the roadway in a pink robe. Officers were unable to locate them and responded to their residence to confirm they had made it home safely.
–Officers responded to the 12000 block of Goshen Road at 5:01 p.m. Monday to attempt to contact a person regarding a previous incident. Officers were able to locate them and verify information pertaining to the previous incident.
–Officers responded to the 900 block of Sunset Boulevard at 3:47 p.m. Monday for a report of criminal trespassing. The caller advised that her sister was not welcome at the residence and kept randomly showing up while the caller was at work. Officers advised that a trespass form would be filled out but asked if the caller knew how to contact their sister, and they said that they did not. While officers were on scene, the caller received a phone call from their sister and officers advised them that they had been trespassed from the property and could be arrested if they went onto the property again.
–Officers responded to the 400 block of East Euclid Street at 1:29 p.m. Monday to assist the fire department. Officers stood by until they were no longer needed.
–Officers responded to the 400 block of North Union Avenue at 1:36 p.m. Monday for a report of a suspicious person. The caller advised that a suspicious man had walked into their driveway and approached family members at approximately 1 a.m. the night prior and repeatedly asked for names and was carrying some sort of metal rod or pipe. The family members went into their residence and the man proceeded back to the sidewalk and headed North on North Union Avenue. Officers advised the caller that their address would be added for extra patrol and to call the police if the man was observed on their property again in the future.
–Officers responded to the 1100 block of East Third Street at 12:10 p.m. Monday for a reported suspicious object. The caller was cleaning out a locker from the residence and located a handgun. Officers checked the handgun, which turned out to be a toy, and advised the caller that they could throw it away.
–Officers responded to the 200 block of West Second Street at 11:44 a.m. Monday to assist the Salem Housing Department with checking a storage unit facility for possible trespassers. Officers checked the facility, and nobody was located nor was any indication that someone had been there recently.
–Officers responded to the 600 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 2:01 a.m. Monday for a reported burglary in progress. The caller advised that a man had just shattered his front door glass, entered his home and then fled southbound on North Lincoln Avenue after being confronted. Officers located the man on Superior Avenue and despite issuing several commands to him to stop and not run, a small foot chase ensued, ultimately resulting in the man Phillip Kelly, 38, Salem, being taken into custody. Kelly was transported to the Salem Regional Medical Center for medical clearance then to the Columbiana County Jail.
–Officers responded to the 2500 block of Bentley Drive at 9:07 p.m. Sunday for a reported assault. Officers spoke with employees who advised that two patients had gotten into a physical altercation with one striking the other and being shoved. Officers collected information from both parties, and statements were left for the employees who witnessed the altercation to fill out and return to officers. Once the statements have been received, the matter will be sent to the Prosecutor’s Office for review.
–Officers responded to the 2800 block of East State Street at 8:37 p.m. Sunday for a report of theft. Officers gathered the information and investigation is pending.
–Officers responded to the 500 block of Continental Drive at 8:36 p.m. Sunday for a report of theft. Officers gathered information from the caller.
–Officers responded to the 500 block of Walnut Street at 6:20 p.m. Sunday for a report of harassment. The caller advised that their ex keeps using an app to change their phone number and text her despite her blocking each number. She advised that she just wanted the issue documented at that time, and officers advised her to call back if needed.
–Officers responded to the 2800 block of East State Street at 6:15 p.m. Sunday for a report of theft. Officers gathered the information, and investigation is currently pending.
–Officers responded to the 1200 block of East Sixth Street at 3:23 p.m. Sunday for a wellness check. The woman in question advised that they were waiting for a ride, and officers offered for them to wait at the police department if they were too cold which she declined.
–Officers responded to the 800 block of West State Street at 3:06 p.m. Sunday for a report of someone making possible threats of self-harm. Officers spoke with the person in question who advised that they did have thoughts of self-harm and wanted to go to the hospital. EMT responded and transported them.
–Officers responded to the 1800 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 1:01a.m. Sunday to assist Perry Township officers with a traffic stop. Officers stood by while township officers conducted their investigation and later arrested both individuals for OVI, transporting them to the police department where they refused to provide a breath sample. They were transported to the Columbiana County Jail.
–Officers responded to the 500 block of South Lundy Avenue at 12:14 a.m. Sunday for a reported prowler. Officers spoke with two people in the area who advised that they were not prowling and were just passing through. Officers advised the caller to contact them if they saw anything else.
–Officers responded to the 200 block of North Madison Avenue at 11:27 p.m. Saturday for a reported noise complaint. Officers advised the resident to turn the music down.
–Officers responded to the 1900 block of East State Street at 11:17 p.m. Saturday for a reported combative patient. Officers spoke with the person in question and hospital staff and were advised that the man had been seen and released by a doctor and was acting irate in the lobby. Officers spoke with the person, who was requested medical attention and advised that he was leaving and going to another hospital.
–Officers on patrol in the 1100 block of West State Street at 7:17 p.m. Saturday observed a vehicle commit several traffic violations and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. The driver, Jason Miller, 35, Sebring was found to be intoxicated and placed under arrest charged with OVI and a marked lanes violation. The vehicle was recovered from the scene by its owner, and Miller was transported to the police department for processing prior to being released to a sober ride.
–Officers responded to the 1700 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 6:47 p.m. Saturday to assist EMT. Officers assisted until no longer needed.
–Officers responded to the 500 block of South Union Avenue at 3:36 p.m. Saturday for a report of a broken utility pole. Officers located the pole in question and had dispatch contact Ohio Edison to respond and address the issue.
–Officers responded to the 2900 block of East State Street at 3:25 p.m. Saturday for a report of a possibly intoxicated driver. Officers located the vehicle in question parked at a local business and advised the driver of the complaint. Officers did not observe any violations or any signs of impairment.
–Officers responded to the 500 block of Aetna Street at 12:21 p.m. Saturday for a reported domestic dispute. Officers spoke with the caller who advised that their boyfriend had taken items which belonged to her. Officers obtained a statement from the caller, who advised that they did not want to pursue any charges.
–Officers responded to the 1900 block of East State Street at 6:06 a.m. Saturday to assist the Ohio State Highway Patrol with an arrest.
–Officers responded to the Salem Regional Medical Center at 3:46 a.m. Saturday to assist the Ohio State Highway Patrol with two combative patients.
–Officers on patrol in the 1000 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 11:15 p.m. Friday observed a suspicious vehicle in the 1000 block of North Ellsworth Avenue. Officers spoke with the occupants, advising them that it was after hours and they needed to leave.
–Officers responded to the 400 block of East Euclid Street at 10:03 p.m. Friday for a reported noise complaint. The people at the location in question were advised to keep the music down.
–Officers on patrol in the 100 block of Benton Road at 7:32 p.m. Friday stopped a suspicious person behind a business. Officers found nothing criminal occurring.
–Officers responded to the 400 block of East State Street at 6:44 p.m. Friday for a report of theft. The caller advised that they had $203 dollars that they believed had been stolen from them. They later called back and advised that the money had been located and that there was no issue.
–Officers responded to the area of North Union Avenue and Cleveland Street at 6:22 p.m. Friday for a reported assault. Officers investigated the incident, and nobody involved wanted to pursue charges. Everyone involved was given a warning for disorderly conduct.
–Officers on patrol in the 900 block of East State Street at 3:36 p.m. Friday for a reported person in distress. The person was not located.
