Leetonia

— An officer responded at 7:09 p.m. Oct. 11 to the 300 block of East High Street for a burning complaint. The small fire was extinguished by Leetonia fire.

— The Liberty Township police reached out to Columbiana dispatch at 9:24 p.m. Oct. 11 in an attempt to reach out to a Sydney Fairbanks, as they had found her ID in their jurisdiction.

Columbiana

— Police responded at 8:07 a.m. Oct. 11 to a neighbor dispute in the 100 block of West Park Avenue, separated the parties and gave them disorderly conduct warnings.

— An officer responded at 9:29 p.m. Oct. 10 to the 300 block of Firestone Avenue for a medical emergency.

— A suspicious person report was investigated at 7:47 p.m. Oct. 10 in the area of the football field.

— Ryan Kost, no address listed, was given a trespass warning and told not to return to his ex-girlfriend’s property at 7:07 p.m. Oct. 8 in the 100 block of West Park Avenue.

— William Staton, of Columbiana, was cited at 2:06 p.m. Oct. 6 in the area of South Main and East Friend streets for driving under suspension following a traffic stop.

— Carla Elenz, of Columbiana, was arrested at 7:05 p.m. Oct. 5 on an OVI charge following a traffic stop on Wildjammer Drive near state Route 14. No other information was available.

— Cody Reckner, of Columbiana, was arrested shortly after midnight Oct. 5 for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest in addition to being cited for no lights or reflectors on a bicycle.

— Police responded to a neighbor dispute at 8:24 p.m. Sept. 28 in the area of Howard Street.

— Benjamin Mercer, of Columbiana, was cited at 10:43 a.m. Sept. 20 in the area of state Route 7 and Metz Road for driving under suspension and expired registration following a traffic stop.

— Cody Dehoff, of Columbiana, was cited at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 30 in the area of state Route 14 and Creek Road for driving under suspension, after a routine traffic stop.

— An officer took a dog bite report at 1:17 p.m. Sept. 30 on Blueberry Drive involving a DoorDash delivery person.

— Officers responded to Terra Verde and Parkview avenues at 3:34 p.m. Sept. 24 for a minor collision involving a Columbiana school bus and a parked vehicle.

— Melissa Payne, no address listed, was arrested at 6:21 a.m. Sept. 22 in the 100 block of South West Street on a charge of receiving stolen property.

Highway Patrol

— Pamela Sisco, of Moore Street in East Liverpool, was cited at 9:16 p.m. Oct. 10 for attempting to pass a vehicle driven by James Cross, of Old Lincoln Highway in East Liverpool, as he turned left from state Route 267 and striking it on the left side of the intersection.

— Charges may be pending against Cody Dailey, who struck Cole Reed Milson while he was pushing his bicycle at around 5:30 a.m. Oct. 5 on state Route 164 in Center Township. Dailey, who was northbound on 164, left the scene after striking Milson. The crash wasn’t reported to the patrol until almost seven hours later. Milson acknowledged that he hadn’t been wearing any reflective garb when the box truck struck him and his bicycle. Several days later, after seeing the plea for leads on social media, Dailey, of Woodville Road in Leetonia had an attorney contact investigators on his behalf. The evidence has been forwarded to the Columbiana County prosecutor for possible charges.

— Emily Downey, of Linda Way in New Waterford, was cited at 9:29 a.m. Oct. 7 in Fairfield Township for failure to control, after she was westbound on Middleton Road and traveled off the right side of the road, striking a culvert.

— Bowen Criswell, of Hoopes Road in Salem, was cited at 5:57 a.m. Oct. 7 in Salem Township for failure to maintain an assured clear distance, after he struck Shawn Gnizdowski, of North Canton, from behind.

— Greg Woolf, of Tower Road in Salem, was cited at 9:22 p.m. Oct. 10 in Franklin Township for failure to yield, after Woolf pulled from a stop sign at the intersection of Valley and Georgetown roads before it was safe to do so, running into Brandon Johnson, of McCann Road in Salem.

Salem

— Officers responded to the 300 block of East Sixth Street at 6:26 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a person causing problems outside of a residence. Officers spoke with the caller who advised that a person known to him had been outside his home yelling and that she pushed over his trash can before leaving on foot. Officers checked the area and were unable to locate the woman at that time. The woman did return to the residence several minutes later and officers spoke with her, and the woman was trespassed from the residence and advised of the consequences if she returned.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of Walnut Street at 2:03 a.m. Tuesday for what was initially reported as an assault. However, when officers arrived, they learned that there was no assault and that the person in question had suffered a seizure and become combative with family. The fire department and EMT responded, and officers stood by until they were no longer needed. The person was transported to the Salem Regional Medical Center by EMT.

— Officers responded to the 2000 block of Monroe Street at 1:19 a.m. Tuesday to assist the fire department with an unresponsive person. Officers stood by and assisted where needed as the person in question was transported to the Salem Regional Medical Center emergency room.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of Rose Avenue at 1:02 a.m. Tuesday for a reported disorderly person. The caller advised that a woman was outside her residence screaming and walking down the street. Officers checked the area for several minutes, but nobody was located in the area.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of West State Street at 12:43 a.m. Tuesday for a wellness check. The caller advised that his wife had come to pick him up in the 800 block of East Third Street and was waiting outside the residence for him, but when he went outside that she was gone and he was unable to contact her by phone. Dispatch was able to contact her by phone and were advised that she was okay and had gone home because she could not find him.

— Officers responded to the 1000 block of Newgarden Avenue at 10:50 p.m. Monday for a reported domestic dispute. Officers spoke with all parties and were advised that a father and daughter had been involved in a verbal dispute and that the daughter had left the residence. No physical violence was reported, and officers gave the female half and their juvenile daughter a ride to a friend’s house.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of South Lundy Avenue at 10:26 p.m. Monday regarding threats being made over social media. The caller advised that they had found their juvenile son somewhere that he shouldn’t have been with another person’s juvenile daughter and told both to go home, and the other person has been sending messages over social media stating that they the caller had yelled at their daughter. The caller wanted the incident to be documented, and officers advised them to block the person on social media.

— Officers responded to the 1800 block of East State Street at 9:40 p.m. Monday for a reported public urination. The caller advised that while in the drive thru with his children a man in a blue truck was urinating in a cup on the passenger side door of the vehicle with his pants down below his waist while in plain view. Officers spoke with both the man, Robert Hall, and the driver of the vehicle, James Moffet, after speaking with both it was also determined that the driver was operating the vehicle while under a license suspension and both were issued citations and provided with court dates.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of East Fourth Street at 7:57 p.m. Monday for a follow up investigation regarding stolen air pods. The caller advised that his stolen property was pinging at the residence and that he could hear the alert from outside the residence. The caller had left the scene prior to officers’ arrival and the resident advised that he did not know the caller nor worked with him, and that he had never worked at Fresh Mark. While officers were on scene, no ping alert was heard from the home even as officers stood at the open doorway of the home. The resident was advised to call if the caller showed up at the residence again and caused issues.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of West Pershing Street at 7:48 p.m. Monday for a reported break in. Nobody was located at the residence.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of Walnut Street at 7:36 p.m. Monday for a reported domestic dispute. The caller advised that he had come to check on his daughter after he heard an older man in the home yelling at her while on a phone call, and after he arrived a larger argument occurred, and he was slapped in the face. Officers were able to separate all parties and come to an agreement that the caller would leave the area as his daughter was in fine health. The caller declined to pursue charges against the woman who slapped him.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 4:40 p.m. Monday for a wellness check. Officers were advised of juveniles on the caller’s porch ringing her doorbell. Officers spoke with the juveniles who advised they were okay and were just playing around.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of Vine Avenue at 3:45 p.m. Monday for a report of suspicious activity. The caller advised earlier in the day a dark colored truck had pulled int the neighboring parking lot and watched her cut her grass. The caller advised that she wanted a report on file.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of East State Street at 1:40 p.m. Monday for a reported possible road rage incident. The caller advised that the vehicle in question was westbound on East State Street, and officers checked the area and observed a vehicle matching the description provided in Perry Township. Officers did not have contact with the driver of the vehicle.

— Linda Deeks, 74, Salem, was issued a right of way violation after her westbound vehicle on East Pershing Street struck a vehicle driven northbound on South Union Avenue at 11:22 a.m. Monday. No injuries were reported.

— The school resource officer was advised of a physical altercation which took place in the parking lot before school by one of the students involved in the altercation at 8:31 a.m. Monday. The other student was brought into the school, and both were separated and picked up by their parents. The matter is under investigation and will be sent to the juvenile court for review.

— Officers responded to the 1900 block of East State Street at 1:49 a.m. Monday for a reported person to be removed. Officers spoke with three staff members who advised that a man had threatened them and was refusing to leave. Officers placed the man, Ryan Thompson, 43, Salem, into custody charged with aggravated menacing and was transported to the Columbiana County Jail.

— Officers responded to the Salem Regional Medical Center at 10:59 p.m. Sunday for a reported person to be removed. Officers located the person sleeping in the waiting room and were advised that he had been there for hours and was not registered for treatment. Officers asked the man to leave the hospital, but he requested to be seen by medical staff and was taken back to the emergency room.

— Officers on patrol in the 900 block of East State Street at 10:58 p.m. Sunday located a man with an active warrant out of the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office. Officers spoke with the man, Joseph Long, 48, Salem, confirming the warrant and transported him to the Columbiana County Jail. Officers located contraband on Long and turned it over to the Columbiana County Drug Enforcement Task Force.

— Officers responded to the area of Olive Street and Cherry Street at 3:45 p.m. Sunday for a report of an unattended toddler pushing a stroller. When officers arrived, several people were aware of the child’s absence from a residence on Cherry Street and were out searching for them. Officers located the child on Olive Street where the original caller had been monitoring the child until they arrived. Officers strapped the child into the stroller and walked the child over to a family member on Cherry Street. The child had managed to open a door outside while their guardian was in the bathroom and was located approximately 200 feet from its residence across a grass field at the edge of Olive Street. The child’s guardian was advised that job and family services would have to be notified and that they may be a resource to obtain child proof locks for the doors at little or no cost.
