Sheriff’s Office

— A deputy responded at 4:01 p.m. Monday to the area of Dunn Road, Madison Township regarding an ATV complaint. The deputy made contact with the people at their residence on Madison Drive, advising them to stay off of main roadways.

Leetonia

— Two juveniles reported at 7:10 p.m. Sept. 6 that they were almost struck by a green SUV near Columbia and Cherry. The officer attempted to catch up with the vehicle which had traveled eastbound on Columbia Street but was unable to locate it.

— While on routine patrol, police observed Washingtonville police out with a vehicle on Walnut Street, encountering the driver who said her son had just broke his arm while playing football at Leetonia schools. Green Township EMS arrived on scene as the officer cleared.

— Leetonia police were notified of a reckless operation vehicle (silver Toyota) entering their jurisdiction at 2:44 p.m. Sept. 3, but the officer was unable to find and make contact with the vehicle.

— Information regarding trespassing a family member from a property was relayed at 3:13 p.m. Sept. 7 in the 300 block of Walnut Street.

— Police handled a neighbor dispute at 7 p.m. Sept. 7 in the 700 block of Columbia Street over one neighbor’s sprinklers getting another’s driveway wet. An officer asked the offending neighbor to adjust his sprinklers, so visitors to the neighbors would not get their vehicles wet.

— Police investigated a domestic dispute at 10:31 p.m. Sept. 3 inside a Coal Alley apartment. Upon arrival, an officer made contact with a male subject who alleged that his ex, who was upstairs, had gotten into an argument with him. A second officer talked to the male half, while this officer talked to the female who stated that he became angry as “she wasn’t laying down with him.” She denied he had struck her or a child but had threatened to strike her in the face. The male subject denied throwing anything at her or threatening her. He also said that he asked the female to leave numerous times but she refused. Nothing appeared to be out of order, according to officers’ observations. Even though they were estranged, he had been allowing her to stay there out of concern for their daughter. Officers were unable to establish probable cause to result in an arrest, so the female half agreed to stay elsewhere with the daughter for the night.

Salem

— Sharon Wright, 66, Kensington, was cited for failure to yield after her northbound vehicle on South Howard Avenue failed to yield from a stop sign and struck a vehicle driven eastbound on West Pershing Street by Eric Sosbe, 54, Salem, at 1:03 p.m. Tuesday. No injuries were reported.

— Officers requested an ambulance for a person in custody complaining of a medical issue at the police department at 10:23 p.m. Tuesday. Due to the extent of the issues being claimed the person was released for medical evaluation and charges were forwarded to the court for a warrant to be issued.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of East State Street at 9:29 a.m. Tuesday for a reported domestic dispute. The female half advised that she and her husband had gotten into a verbal altercation and she wanted officers to escort her into her home to collect belongings. While speaking with her the male half came to the police department to report the incident as well and advised that it had become physical and had injuries. Photos were taken of his injuries and a statement was obtained from the man, who also advised he would be staying with family for the rest of the day. Officers took the female half into custody and after being taken into custody requested an ambulance and was ultimately released for evaluation. A warrant for domestic violence will be filed.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of East Fourth Street at 8:42 a.m. Tuesday for a reported parking complaint. The caller advised that a pickup truck with a trailer attached was parked too close to their driveway and was causing issues getting in an out of the driveway. Officers attempted to contact the driver but did not get an answer at the door and a citation was issued.

— Officers responded to the area of East State Street and North Cunningham Road at 11:46 p.m. Thursday for a report of debris in the roadway. Officers removed trash from the roadway.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of South Union Avenue at 6:24 p.m. Thursday for a wellness check after neighbors heard screaming. Officers checked the area and found that it was children playing.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of South Broadway Avenue at 6:10 p.m. Thursday for a possible hit and skip.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of Jennings Avenue at 1:03 p.m. Thursday for a report of telecommunications harassment. The caller was advised of their options for dealing with the situation.

— Officers responded to the 400 block of Jennings Avenue at 1:07 p.m. Thursday for a report of telecommunications harassment. The caller was advised of their options for dealing with the situation.

— Officers responded to the 1800 block of Shady Lane at 11:27 a.m. Thursday for a reported scam. The caller advised that they answered an advertisement for a dog sitter and the person who posted the advertisement sent her a check which was from a school district in Illinois which she was supposed to cash and then contact the person back to provide her bank account information. The caller contacted the district on the check who advised they’d been dealing with the issue recently and that it is a scam. The caller advised that they did not provide any banking information or personal information. Officers collected the information and advised a report would be completed.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of Continental Drive at 11:30 a.m. Thursday for a reported criminal trespass. The caller advised that they were told an unknown person was staying in her friend’s and needed to enter the property and requested officers check it first. The residence was checked with nobody located inside and officers recommended the locks be changed.

— Officers responded to the 2800 block of East State Street at 10:26 a.m. Thursday for a reported suspicious person. The caller advised that a man who frequents the business has been urinating in the parking lot. Officers advised the caller of their options for dealing with the situation.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of East Fourth Street at 9:22 a.m. Thursday for a reported theft. The caller advised that sometime yesterday her medication was stolen from her mailbox and that they are unsure who may have taken it but need a report on file.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of East Sixth Street at 8:36 a.m. Thursday for a reported criminal trespass. The caller advised that there are two women coming onto his property without permission. Officers spoke with the woman and advised them to stop, or they may face criminal charges.

— An officer delivered a message to a resident at 8:35 a.m. Thursday.

— Officers responded to the 2300 block of East State Street at 8:18 a.m. Thursday for a reported alarm. An employee advised that the alarm was accidental.

— Officers responded to the 2000 block of East State Street at 11:03 p.m. Wednesday for a reported alarm. Officers checked all outer perimeter doors which were secure.

— Officers responded to the 1900 block of East State Street at 10:07 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a patient fleeing their hospital room. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the man, and after reviewing security footage determined that they had gone to their vehicle and driven off westbound on East Pershing Street.

— Officers responded to the 900 block of West Wilson Street at 8:04 p.m. Wednesday for a reported juvenile issue. The caller advised that their daughter did not come home from school and went to a friend’s house instead. Officers located the juvenile in Centennial Park and brought them back home.

— Officers responded to the 2800 block of East State Street at 7:24 p.m. Wednesday for a reported domestic dispute. Contact was made with both parties, who were separated and advised that there were no threats, nor any physical violence.

— Officers responded to the 600 block of West Seventh Street at 6:51 p.m. Wednesday for a reported suspicious person. Officers spoke with the person in question who was later given a courtesy transport to Summit Street.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of Rose Avenue at 6:38 p.m. Wednesday for a report parking complaint. Officers advised that it was a company truck, and he will be moving it as soon as possible. Officers advised him to do so as soon as he was able.

— Officers responded to Jennings Avenue at 3:42 p.m. Wednesday for a reported electric bike on fire. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the fire in question. Officers located the owner of the bike who advised it was not on fire and that he had disposed of it.

— Officers responded to the 200 block of Park Avenue at 2:54 p.m. Wednesday for a speak with officer report. The caller advised that her daughter had received unwanted Facebook messages from an adult man. The messages were not criminal in nature, and the person was blocked. The person’s information was collected and turned over to an agent with the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force to monitor.

— The school resource officer was advised of an issue in the 2200 block of Merle Road at 2:12 p.m. Wednesday. School administrators advised that a student had told the guidance counselors that he was having some mental health issues. The mother was contacted and came to the school and took them to Akron Children’s Hospital for his issues.

— Officers responded to the 2800 block of East State Street at 12:18 p.m. Wednesday for a wellness check. Officers were advised that a non-responsive person was inside a running vehicle. Officers located the vehicle and found that it was a store employee who was okay. He advised that he had just gone to take a nap for his lunch break.

— Officers responded to the 700 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 9:51 p.m. Tuesday for a report of suspicious activity. The caller advised that she observed people walking down her driveway and in her yard. Officers were unable to locate the person.

— Officers responded to the 1000 block of East Fourth Street at 9:42 p.m. Tuesday for a reported suspicious vehicle. Officers spoke with the person who was parked in a driveway talking with the resident of the property.

— Officers responded to the 1200 block of Southeast Boulevard at 9:27 p.m. Tuesday for a reported dog at large. The caller advised that the dog was his, but he could not take care of it anymore. The humane officer advised officers that the owner could not surrender the dog, and the caller was advised of the same.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of Continental Drive at 8:59 p.m. Tuesday for a neighbor dispute. The caller advised that a neighbor put up a camera that is taking photos of them. The caller was advised that officers couldn’t force them to take the camera down.

— Officers responded to the 700 block of East Pershing Street at 7:51 p.m. Tuesday for a reported reckless operator. Officers attempted to locate the vehicle in question but were unable.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Perry Street at 7:14 p.m. Tuesday for a reported recovered bicycle. Officers stood by until the fire department arrived to pick up the bicycle. The bicycle will be placed in the department’s lost and found.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Perry Street at 6:47 p.m. Tuesday for a report of suspicious activity at a condemned property. Officers checked the property but were unable to locate anyone. The bicycle was recovered and brought back to the police department.

— Officers responded to the 1100 block of Cleveland Street at 6:47 p.m. Tuesday for a reported dog at large. Officers placed the dog in the back of a cruiser until the humane agent arrived.

— Officers responded to the 800 block of South Lundy Avenue at 5:55 p.m. Tuesday for a reported juvenile complaint. The caller advised that they heard a loud noise and found four juveniles throwing a fire extinguisher. Officers spoke with the juveniles who advised they threw the fire extinguisher into an abandoned motor home and that no damage was caused by them. Officers will attempt to contact the owner.
