Sheriff’s Office

— Deputies were dispatched at 6:47 p.m. Wednesday to the 4600 block of Hawkins Road, Unity Township, for a man intoxicated making threats to assault other people. Dorian T. Lowrey, 50, Enon Valley, Pa., was taken to the Columbiana County jail on charges of violating a protection order, domestic violence, criminal trespass and aggravated menacing.

— A deputy at 3:06 p.m. Wednesday returned a call from a resident of Miller Road, Salem Township, regarding threats or harassment. The caller was advised how to proceed.

— A possible prowler was reported at 9:49 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Union Ridge Road, Middleton Township, where deputies spoke with a man who said he thought he heard a male voice on his property. Deputies checked the immediate and surrounding areas and made contact with no one. Deputies also found all buildings on the property secure.

–A man at Fireside Lake Campground, Rochester Road, West Township reported at 9:33 p.m. Tuesday that his soon-to-be ex-wife came to the campground when he was not present and went through the camper and shed and took multiple belongings she was not supposed to take. He was told to contact an attorney.

Columbiana

— Crews responded to a medical call at 11:14 a.m. Aug. 11 in the 200 block of James Street, discovering a deceased female in the residence.

— Police responded at 5:47 p.m. Aug. 13 to the 100 block of Manor Drive to a call for service for a male suffering a mental health crisis.

— Police took a report at 7:37 p.m. Aug. 14 regarding telecommunications harassment.

— Police took a private property crash report at 4:24 p.m. Aug. 15 in the 100 block of Homestead Drive.

— William Carothers, of East Palestine, was arrested at 10:32 p.m. Aug. 15 on a charge of OVI in the 100 block of state Route 14, following a traffic stop for a marked lanes violation.

Highway Patrol

— Dorothy Bailey, of Teegarden Road in Salem, was cited at 11:08 a.m. Aug. 3 near state routes 45 and 558, after striking a vehicle driven by Ted Doyle, of Fairfield School Road in Columbiana.

— David Cessna, of Walnut Street in Rogers, was cited at 1:46 p.m. Aug. 8 for failure to maintain an assured clear distance, after rearending a vehicle driven by Bradley Kaiser, of Coraopolis, Pa. while traveling on state Route 154.

— Anthony Kelly, 7, of Wood Street in East Palestine, was cited at 12 :12 p.m. Aug. 9 for failure to obey a traffic control device, after he was struck by Linda Grace Cook, of Bellaire, while proceeding through a red light on state Route 7 near Columbiana-Waterford Road.

— Sara Merriman, of Wood Street in Salineville, was cited at 8:05 a.m. Aug. 4 for failure to obey a traffic control device, after striking a vehicle driven by Jessica Grim of Berghotz, resulting in it hitting an embankment and overturning on state Route 164.

— Richard Mattern, of Cannons Mill Road in East Liverpool, was cited at 1:12 p.m. Aug. 4 after striking a vehicle driven by Rochelle Ferlan, of Midland, Pa., in the rear on state Route 45.

— David Stillion, of Alliance, was cited at 8:11 p.m. Aug. 11 for failure to obey a traffic control device, after striking a vehicle driven by Coby Cookson, of Louisville, in the rear near Georgetown and Knox School roads.

— Shirley France, of South Lincoln Avenue in Salem, was cited at 10:42 a.m. Aug. 3 for failure to obey a traffic control device, after striking Joshua Truxall, of Knox School Road in Minerva, in the intersection of state Route 172 and Depot Road.

— Sally Westfall, of Rochester Road in Minerva, was cited at7:27 p.m. Aug. 9 for failure to yield, after striking a vehicle driven by Olivia Short, of Buffalo Road in Kensington, while pulling from a private drive on U.S. Route 30.

Salem

–Officers spoke with a person by phone at 11:38 p.m. Tuesday regarding their Google account allegedly being hacked. Officers advised them to contact customer support in the morning.

–Officers responded to the police department at 11:20 a.m. Tuesday for a possible sexual battery investigation that occurred in city limits. The caller was interviewed and all information regarding the incident was collected. Further investigation and information will be referred to the detective bureau.

–Officers responded to the 2700 block of East State Street at 9:26 p.m. Tuesday for a report of suspicious activity. The caller advised that a man in a box truck was reported to be at the gas pumps handing food to people riding in the back of a box truck. Officers spoke with the driver who cooperated with no hesitation and permitted officers to search the back of the box truck which did not have anyone inside.

–Officers responded to the 400 block of West State Street at 8:57 p.m. Tuesday for a reported wellness check. Officers located the person in question and verified they were OK.

–Sara Berdella, 74, Salem, was cited for assured clear distance ahead after her vehicle on East State Street struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Aubrinna Ramsey, 20, Wellsville, at 3:20 p.m. Tuesday. No injuries were reported.

–Officers responded to the 500 block of East Fourth Street at 3:03 p.m. Tuesday for a speak with officer report. The caller advised that they were receiving unwanted calls from a person and they believed that person hung a note on their door. Officers spoke with the person and advised them to cease contact with the caller.

–Officers responded to the 2500 block of East State Street at 1:06 p.m. Monday for a reported brush fire. Officers provided traffic control while the fire department extinguished the fire.

–Officers responded to the 200 block of East Third Street at 12:16 p.m. Monday for a report of criminal trespass. The caller advised that the person in question was not suppose to be on the property, and they wanted them trespassed. Officers spoke with the non-residents and advised them they had to leave and that if they returned they could face charges.

–Officers spoke with a person by phone about harassment at 10:28 a.m. Monday. The caller was advised of their options.

–Officers responded to the 400 block of South Ellsworth Avenue at 6:07 a.m. Monday for a reported prowler. The caller advised they knew the person in question and they did not care he was there and requested officers attempt to locate them. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate him.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of Cleveland Street at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday for a wellness check. The caller advised they observed a person lying on the steps of the house next door and were unable to tell if they were breathing or not. Officers were able to get the person to respond and answer questions and the fire department and EMT responded and took over the scene and transported them to the hospital for further evaluation.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of South Broadway Avenue at 4:47 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a person refusing to leave the establishment after multiple requests to do so. Officers spoke with the person who left without an issue and assisted them with transportation to their residence.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of West Third Street at 4:08 p.m. Wednesday for a reported public assist. Officers located a woman who wanted to go to the hospital for suicidal thought and was transported by EMT.

— Officers responded to the 500 block of East Fourth Street at 2:18 p.m. Wednesday for a complaint of assault. The caller advised that a woman attempted to push his powered wheelchair over when he was backing up into a spot, and that there had been past incidents between them, but they’d only been verbal previously. The caller only wanted a report at that time in case the situation keeps escalating.

— Officers responded to the 2300 block of East State Street at 1:17 p.m. Wednesday for a person to be removed. The caller advised that a man came inside the business causing a disturbance, yelling at customers, and refusing to leave his shopping cart outside. The man was identified and advised he was no longer allowed back at the residence. He advised that he understood and left the area without incident.

— Officers responded to the 300 block of East Euclid Street at 12:29 p.m. Wednesday for a report of harassment. The caller advised that they had accepted a job performing for a local event, realized they had double booked and canceled, and since canceling has been receiving calls and voicemails from the party they needed to cancel on. The caller advised they just wanted to make a report for now and officers advised the caller to block the number.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of Vine Avenue at 12:12 p.m. Wednesday for a wellness check on a woman. The caller advised that a woman had made threats of self-harm and wanted to go to the hospital. The woman was transported to the hospital by EMT.
